Helga Street is one of the Outer Banks’ most iconic “local spots”—easy to miss on a map, unforgettable once you’ve stayed here. With only about a mile of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the sound, this is a rare stretch where you can watch sunrise over the ocean, then stroll to the pedestrian crosswalk, hop onto the Bay Drive multi-use path, and catch sunset over the sound—both over water, on the same day.

Everything feels walkable and simple: grab a morning latte at Ashley’s Espresso Parlour on Helga Street, wander to Seagate North for restaurants, yoga, and shopping, and finish the day with a “secret spot” ice cream run at Mom’s Sweet Shop (head around back after the counter—it’s a vibe).

And because Helga Street Beach Access has no public parking, it stays pleasantly low-key—more space to spread out, and a little more magic in every beach day.
