Ok, I don’t usually write reviews but this stay warranted it! I think the Hono Hut has been my favorite AirBnb stay to date! Very clean, comfy beds, tastefully decorated and I absolutely loved the outdoor spaces! We had everything we needed and Darren and Chelsey were very accommodating. Easy check in, great central location, and just an all around great place to stay. This is one that has exceeded my expectations! Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Honu Hut beach house! The home is modern, cozy, and extremely clean. The kitchen was impressively well equipped—perfect for cooking meals during our stay. The family room was very comfortable and great for relaxing after a day at the beach. Our kids enjoyed the open space to play board games and we also really appreciated that the house was dog-friendly with a secure fenced yard, which gave us peace of mind and privacy. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable getaway!

Overall it was very nice and a decent location and easy walk to the beach if just taking a walk. Parking for the beach was very conveniently located not far as well.

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your home. Everything was exactly as described. The home was beautiful and very clean, we immediately felt right at home. We vacationed a few days with our two kids and dog. The kids loved having their own bedrooms and the fenced in backyard was a perfect space. You have truly thought of everything. The binder with suggestions was so useful. We had delicious coffees and dinners per the recommendations! The kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked with everything you could need. 10/10!! Thanks again for making OBX a great experience!

The Honu Hut was amazing, we were sad to have to leave. Communication was excellent before and after checking in, our dog loved the yard, we loved riding bikes to the beach and along the trail by the sound. We would definitely stay here again.

We had an absolutely wonderful time during our stay
We had an absolutely wonderful time during our stay. The hosts provided lots of information we needed to make it memorable and easy. The house had everything we needed and more. We especially loved sitting outside in the evenings enjoying the beautiful spring weather and counting stars in the sky. We put puzzles together on the kitchen table and watched a number of fun movies and shows from the comfort of the large sofa. We also slept very well in the comfortable beds and in a very peaceful and quiet neighborhood. We were conveniently located to everything we needed on a vacation and a huge plus was our hosts left many great suggestions for restaurants and cafes close by that we loved. The beach was amazing and we were able to see lots of dolphins, seagulls, and pelicans. All-in-all we had a wonderful time and we definitely will look forward to another stay at Chelsey and Darren's beach house very soon. Absolutely loved it!

Chelsey and Darren’s home was perfect for our family beach vacation. It was clean, comfortable, and close to everything we needed. We were able to bring our 2 dogs and they felt right at home which eased our anxiety about bringing them somewhere new. We would highly recommend their home and would love to visit again very soon.

The Honu Hut is the perfect place to stay for a trip to OBX. It is in the perfect location to spend time at both the sound and the beach. The hosts offer use of beach cruiser bikes, which gave us a fun activity every morning to get coffee and explore the area. We loved staying here and can’t wait to come back!

This was the cutest spot even the neighbors were friendly! it's a short walk to the beach, sunsets, sunrise and you can even borrow their bikes! Everything was super clean and convenient! You really don't even need a car unless you plan to explore the whole area or if you want to drive to specific food places or to Walmart, it's about a 15 min drive. I enjoyed my stay, appreciated the outdoor shower after the beach, and definitely plan to come back!

The Honu Hut is the absolute perfect spot for a couple's getaway trip. Clean, quaint, relaxing, and in a great location. You are just a bike ride away from the beach, the bay, the bike path, local cafe shops, restaurants, bars - you will rarely need your car! Chelsey & Darren were the greatest hosts. Awesome, kind and welcoming people (Tyson too). Darren was so kind and helped us when we had car troubles one day and Chelsey offered us so many awesome suggestions on places to go/things to do we never once felt unsure of what to do. We miss this place already & hope to visit again soon! Highly, highly recommend!

Small and quaint, nestled in a quiet neighborhood, just enough room space for a couple. No kitchenette, however a backyard with a grill and a patio was free for us to use. Car port hang out spot with outdoor furniture was pretty neat. Our door showers were pretty clutch! Located just a block or two from the beach!

My husband and I had such a great time at the Honu Hut! Chelsey & Darren have a great place in Kill Devil Hills and we love all the details they have incorporated to make it feel cozy! We loved having access to bikes and how close we were to restaurants, coffee shops, and the beach. The space was clean, and we had a super easy check-in. We will definitely be visiting again, especially to see Tyson, their friendly boxer 🙂

This place is absolutely amazing
This place is absolutely amazing. Its close proximity to everything from restaurants, the beach, even the Brew Thru, and mini-golf was awesome. The room's decor and comfort were spot on and even having beach bikes and beach chairs was such an awesome touch. Chelsey & Darren themselves were incredibly friendly and so helpful. Chelsea and Darren were amazing hosts! We had a great stay in the Honu Hut. The house was adorable with the most amazing detailed touches. Darren and Chelsea put hard work into their home and it shows. The location is great, the home was super clean, and everything was perfect. We took the bikes down to watch the sunset, which was so beautiful. We loved getting to meet their dog Tyson, and enjoyed so much getting to chat with them in the evening. As a couple that loves Hawaii—the house took us back to our favorite islands. They both had awesome recommendations for food! We also recommend going to OBX yoga for beach yoga at the pier and grabbing a bite of Crumbl cookies!

The perfect air bnb! My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights and it had everything we could have wanted. Quick walk/bike to the beach and such a cute and cozy space. Darren and Chelsey are extremely welcoming and had the best recommendations! We hope to come back next year!

Elegant place with great amenities. In a quiet neighborhood - yet within easy walking and driving distance to the sound, the beach, restaurants, and stores. As good as the photos on the website are --the place is even better in reality. We'll definitely stay here again and we'll recommend it to friends. Chelsey and Darren are warm and gracious people.They were available to us when we had questions. It was fun to talk with them.

This is the cutest little OBX stay
This is the cutest little OBX stay! It’s the perfect location between the beach and the sound. Chelsey & Darren are so hospitable and have thought of everything to make you as comfortable as possible. According to my husband, the towels were so soft that it felt like “hugging a tiny sheep,” haha! And, if you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet their sweet pup! You definitely want to stay here 🙂

It was such a clean and cozy space. They were very personable left a sweet note and some wine for our anniversary. Our favorite part was having the bikes to ride down by the sound and to our favorite coffee shop, and having the outside shower- always my favorite part about the beach. Overall it was a great experience as our first time using Air BNB, we will be back!

We had so much fun riding the beach cruisers around and the location was awesome, just a few minutes from the beach and the sound (on a bike or on foot). The hosts were very friendly and attentive. This was a perfect Airbnb for our 5 day stay in the Outer Banks. The location is right between the beach and the sound so we were able to spend all day at the beach and walk to the sound at night for beautiful sunsets. Chelsey and Darren's place had everything we needed and was super cute. We were most appreciative of the bikes and loved having an outdoor shower for after the beach. Chelsey and Darren also had great recommendations for places to eat, beach parking (not that you have to drive-definitely close enough to walk), etc. We would highly recommend this Airbnb!

The hut is truly a must visit place when in NC
The hut is truly a must visit place when in NC. I was skeptical about staying in a private room/area that the hosts were also living at but i’m glad i gave it a try. The room is sparkling clean and the bathroom is amazing. They have a binder full of recommendations and also leave a bunch of stuff for their guests to use at the beach out. The location is perfect, not too slow and not too busy. You are minutes away from the beach for a to die for sunrise and minutes away from the sound for the sunset. I was so sad to leave, but will be returning to the hut when I can.

Perfect location if you want to be close enough to walk or bike to everything, while also being out of the way. Our stay was wonderful! Chelsey and Darren were great hosts while also allowing us plenty of privacy. Many personal touches such as a handwritten note when we arrived, water bottles, coffee k-cups (which are very handy for a quick brew before heading to the beach for the beautiful sunrise), use of their bikes, beach chairs, and outdoor space as well a whole portfolio with tips and suggestions for our stay. Will definitely be staying again for our next OBX get away!

The pictures on the website don’t do this place justice. Not only is everything clean and perfect as soon as you walk in, but the hospitality is unmatched. We asked for a wine key at a considerably late hour and they were happy to provide one along with other random requests (speaker & cornhole boards). They were very accommodating, and their restaurant recommendations are spot on! We truly couldn’t have asked for better place to stay. Thank you for an exciting yet relaxing experience.

If you get a chance to travel to the Outer Banks, stay at the Honu Hut! It was the perfect little oasis for my partner and I for a quick trip to the beach. Chelsey and Darren ensure that you have everything you need while you’re there and are wonderful hosts. The use of the bikes and beach equipment is a wonderful added bonus. They are in an ideal spot- so close to many restaurants, shops, and of course the beach. We can’t wait to come back to the Honu Hut!!

Easy check-in, super clean (we felt very save even during covid), quite street, easy access to everything, very close to the beach, bikes to use, etc. Chelsey & Darren made us feel at home and there were a lot of throughful touches around it, that made us feel very welcome! This was the highlight of our trip! There are so many great things to do in the area, and Chelsey and Darren provide so many excellent suggestions for food and activities. Outdoor showers, bikes to go see the sunset/beach, comfortable bed, and private bottom floor. Stayed for 5 days with my wife and came back feeling relaxed and refreshed. Can't recommend highly enough!

Chelsey & Darren’s place was everything we wanted in an OBX home. The location is perfectly situated between the beach and the bayside; both sides were only a short walk/bike ride away. The room was very clean, air-conditioned, and spacious enough for a couple. The backyard was expansive and well-kept plus it had an outdoor grill, picnic table, and lounge chairs. The outdoor shower was the perfect way to end a long day at the beach. Chelsey was very friendly, accommodating and quick to respond to all our questions. We would 100 percent want to stay here again in the near future.

A cozy studio that had everything you would need to enjoy a beach vacation. The amenities were excellent, especially enjoyed the beach cruisers to travel around town. The location is a skip hop and a jump to the beach and great restaurants. The host's left great recommendations that we took full advantage of, none of the suggestions let us down. One day when it was suppose to rain, the host reached out to us to give us suggestions for indoor activities, they were awesome. There is a great backyard with nice sized grill in the event that you want to bbq fresh seafood (we loved this feature). We had an awesome time and appreciated the thoughtfulness and hospitality of the hosts.

Perfect spot for a couple's weekend getaway. Short bike ride (bikes included!) to the beach, excellent backyard set up for hanging out, and very affordable. Chelsey and Darren were great hosts and truly no complaints from me. Definitely check it out.

Their place is a charming beach-island atmosphere with its outside showers, soft blues and coral color schemes, and simplistic provisions. Everything you need for a quick vacation is there. We quickly became friends with the hosts, who were always available, super kind and very generous when it came to using their beach equipment. Highly recommend staying at the Honu Hut.

Perfect experience. Comfy bed, stylish space, and extremely clean. Chelsey and Darren were also super kind and nice. Only a 5min max walk to the beach. Nice chairs in back yard to watch the stars. Sweet doggy too 🙂

The Honu Hut is beautifully decorated and sparkling clean! From the hammock, the patio chairs, to the cruisers, and outdoor shower, every single detail was well thought out. We enjoyed meeting Chelsey and chatting with her. She responded very quickly and made us feel so welcomed. The location was great too, in a quiet safe neighborhood, right near the beach. We definitely will stay again next time we visit the OBX. This is THE place to stay!!

This was the best air bnb experience my husband and I have ever had! Everything from the peaceful location to the super friendly owners, this place was amazing. There’s quick access to both the sound and the beach as well tons of places to grab good coffee and food. Chelsey and Darren went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional! There are so many awesome amenities to this Airbnb like the beach cruisers, beach chairs, boogie & surf boards, and more. There’s no place better. We’ll definitely be back!

The Honu Hut was perfect for our first vacation to The Outerbanks! The bikes and beach equipment provided helped us relax on the beach without having to spend extra on chairs and umbrellas. The resource book in the room was also a huge help as we explored KDH and all the local seafood options. Although we didn’t have the opportunity to personally meet Chelsey and Darren, they were available when we needed and answered all the questions we had. The Honu Hut is a wonderful place and we would highly recommend it to anyone! We will definitely be back!

our stay with Chelsey & Darren was lovely. they have thought of every detail. They are clearly hands on with the place. every tought represents their personality and love for what they are doing (love the turtles) ... that means a lot to us. The place was super clean and had everythign you need. They offered their backyard space as well and we enjoyed cooking a couple of nice fresh seafood meals on the grill with the beautifull skies above us. Above and beyond ... (secret note, even if you dont use the outdoor shower, check it out! awesome skills from them).

The space was super clean, quiet and comfortable and had extra amenities such as a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and extra personal hygiene items. The large backyard was a great placeto relax and take in the beauty of great spring nights. There were also beach cruisers available for use that made it easy to get around to local coffee shops and restaurants and allowed us to take in the views along bay drive! Such a wonderful stay; can't wait to come back!!

It’s just a short walk or bike ride (they have bikes for guests to use!!!) to the beach and there is a great coffee place on the corner close to their house! They had a list of fun things to do around town waiting for us and a binder full of other helpful suggestions as well! They thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and strived to make sure we had a great time. It was such a pleasure meeting them and we will definitely stay again! The Honu Hut is a perfect home away from home. Chelsey & Darren were incredibly helpful in providing directions and advice driving into OBX and local options around the neighborhood. Checking in is incredibly easy (especially for someone who drove in at 10:30pm!). The space is private and comfortable, and I greatly appreciated the little touches - especially the coffee for my early mornings. Would definitely recommend their place to anyone traveling to the Outer Banks. While I didn’t get a chance to meet them this time around, I hope to be back in future!

It was immaculately cleaned, centrally located in the outer banks, just big enough to meet the needs of a couple but cheaper than a hotel, and Chelsey was an amazing host with a cheerful personality, full of great suggestions and instantaneously responds to messages. This private room is exactly as it is pictured. Private entrance with personal outdoor space available. This inviting place has a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toiletries, towels - beach and bathing, air conditioned and comfortable queen sized bed. Also - the body boards, surf boards, fishing pole, beach chairs, coolers, touring bikes - all for your use! It really is awesome. The location is perfect to quickly get to the coastal beaches, the inlet waterways, shopping, eating of all sorts, and local hot spots. But I don't want to forget that the hosts are extremely sweet. They even offered us shrimp from the grill when we arrived. Thank YOU! We will be back on our next adventure out to the Outer Banks!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Chelsey & Darren's place for a few days and had a fantastic experience! The place was extremely clean. They were really responsive and always got back to us immediately. They even let us check in a little early since we got in so early and we're super accommodating. They also gave us some great recommendations for a cute coffee shop and a great place for dinner. The apartment is very cute and feels private from the main house. We met them in person and they were super friendly but also gave us privacy. The back yard is great, we even stayed in one night and grilled for dinner. The place is a quick less than 5 minute bike right to a nice stretch of the beach and they provide bikes, chairs, towels, etc. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone. Had a wonderful experience!

(You HAVE to use their outdoor shower! It’s so cool!) It was an amazing first trip to the Kill Devil Hills area and an amazing experience for a first timer using Airbnb!

The amenities- they have you covered whether a trip to the beach, recommendations, a hammock, outside shower, beach cruisers, etc., etc. Stay here if you are in the Outer Banks or take second class elsewhere.

The location is perfectly between the ocean and the sound/bay, in a very quiet neighborhood and not far from anywhere you may want to be in the Outer Banks. And, if you don't know where to go, they've included a great binder full of recommendations! Chelsey & Darren are very sweet, so I highly recommend chilling in the backyard with them!

The Honu Hut is the perfect spot for a luxurious getaway. Chelsey and Darren anticipated everything a guest could want from K-Cups in the morning, to beach towels and Q-tips. The space is wonderful and so comfortable. We enjoyed an awesome, relaxing weekend - the Honu Hut was the perfect base to explore the OBX for the weekend. We especially enjoyed taking the bikes out on the bike path for a cruise along the sound. We cannot wait to come back and visit again soon! Thank you guys!

Place was just like the pictures and more! Beautiful, cozy, and quiet. Everything we could possibly need was ready for us, including a book of recommendations from where to view the beautiful sunset, to dinner recommendations. We will be returning during the summer to enjoy the beach toys and especially the very cool outdoor shower! We even joined Chelsey and Darren for a Sunday afternoon bike ride to a local event for tacos and beer. We couldn't have asked for more! Great hosts, you won't be disappointed!

The Honu Hut is very cozy. We were impressed how spotlessly clean everything was. Their attention to small details, like beach towels, sunscreen, coffee & tea, and super cozy sheets made us feel extra special. They even gave us champagne since we were celebrating our honeymoon!

Really enjoyed our stay! Chelsey and Darren are super welcoming and responsive! The accommodations were awesome from the comfy bed to the fluffy towels, and the space is spotless. The little touches were appreciated, from the k-cups with mugs to the stocked toiletries, and a really nice blow dryer (don't judge - I've used way too many crappy hotel blow dryers to count 😁).

We LOVED Honu Hut!! It's in a great location, a couple minutes walk to the sound, and less than 10 min walk to the beach. The provided beach cruiser bikes are awesome and will get you to the beach in less than 5!!
Great location right in Kill Devil Hills, lots of restaurants and shops right around, and a short drive to Nags Head, or North to Duck & Corolla. The room is perfect for a vacation stay, and we loved the outdoor showers and spacious back yard! Chelsey & Darren (& the awesome dog Tyson!) were amazing and couldn't have been better hosts! We got engaged during our stay, and they left us sweet notes and a bottle of champagne! We'll be back to Honu Hut soon, and you should have no hesitations with booking there either, you're in for a great stay!!

Wow, from the communication prior to us arriving and throughout our stay to walking in the cozy, clean, and comfortable Honu Hut, this visit was AWESOME. My wife and I came to OBX for a brief weekend "reset" trip after just recently getting married not even a year ago just yet. Darren and Chelsea have literally thought of EVERYTHING as far as accommodations and recommendations in the area. Two of the most welcoming people including Ty Ty, their friendly boxer. The cruisers were a nice touch to explore the local area getting to the sound, the beach, and local shops nearby. Restaurant recommendations that we took were all ON POINT. Definitely recommend if you want a cozy getaway will a chill vibe and feel.

My mom and I had less than 24 hours to spend in the outer banks (it was just a pit stop on our road trip from FL to NY) and we were so happy to stay at the Honu Hut! It was impressively clean, just as the pictures looked, and it was decorated to make us feel like we had our own mini beach house. Every detail was thought of in this room, from a nice, personal welcome better on our bed, the wifi network and password framed on the night stand, extra beach towels and sun screen incase we forgot them, a mini fridge, microwave, even a keurig! There was a small binder with personal recommendations of their favorite restaurants and cafes that are both in walking, biking, or short driving distance, with a few fun brochures thrown in. And I can't forget to mention the incredibly SOFT and cozy , cloud-like bedding! Oh my goodness. And the fact that we could relax and watch NETFLIX at the end of the night was just the icing on the cake. The next day after spending a few hours at the beach, Chelsey allowed us to use their equally adorable and perfectly thought out outdoor shower area to rinse off before we got in the car for the rest of our road trip even though we already technically checked out. This was by far the best choice we could have made as far as choosing where to stay in the outer banks! I hope to return to the Honu Hut one day!

The Honu Hut exceeded all of our expectations! Chelsey and Darren obviously put so much thought into each and every detail of this venue, from the beach gear available for use (beach cruisers, mats, beach chairs, etc.) to the cozy room amenities (amazingly soft bed and pillows, Riki/Netflix, sunscreen and other nice toiletries). This was by far the nicest and cleanest Airbnb my husband and I have stayed in and we have spent time in Airbnbs around the world! The Honu Hut was centrally located and we could bike or walk to the beach nearby. Chelsey and Darren were extremely nice and it was our pleasure to meet them and get a chance to stay in their beautiful home. We'll be back!!

Just as described, this is a very comfortable, spotless, and cool space. My two days and nights were marred a little by ferocious outdoor heat indexes of 100+ and a strong south wind that made the beach a little tough, but early mornings and late afternoons were great! Pay particular attention to Darren and Chelsey's recommendations in their resource guide. What a nice couple and warm welcome. Plus the a/c and bed are excellent and the showers, indoor and out, great after a day at the beach. Highly recommended. Enjoy!

Chelsey and Darren were amazing hosts. Every thing that was described about the Honu Hut was spot on and then some. They have everything you would need to enjoy the your stay on the Outer Banks. I can't thank then enough for being such great hosts! Would highly recommend a stay with them!
We loved the location of the Honu Hut
We loved the location of the Honu Hut. It was very central to the beach, the sound, biking trails, restaurants, and shopping. The room felt luxe and airy-perfect for a beach get away! Chelsey and Darren were beyond hospitable and friendly. We were able to use the boogie boards, beach chairs, and bikes that they provided for us and they all worked great! It was nice to be able to use their grill as well, and Tyson (their boxer) was an absolute joy to have around! 10/10 would stay at the Honu Hut again!

Chelsey and Darren were great hosts. They are exactly the kind of hosts you want. Very friendly and their place was so charming. They were very easy to communicate with throughout the process. Their place was clean, organized and comfortable. We couldn't have been happier!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Honu Hut
We absolutely loved our stay at the Honu Hut. It is so nicely decorated and extremely cozy! A home away from home for sure. Both Chelsey and Darren were quite lovely and made our stay extremely comfortable. If ever back in town, we would stay there again in a heart beat! Wish we could have stayed longer!
If you're lucky enough to stumble upon this humble abode, you better book it asap! You will be glad you did!
PS...the bed sheets and bedding were amazing...like sleeping on a cloud;)
Honu Hut was a perfect getaway
Honu Hut was a perfect getaway. The room had everything I needed and was very cute and clean. Everything was new. Private entrance and parking meant I came and went as needed. So much to do in the area! Learn your Outer Banks mile posts then look for Captain Andy's bar and restaurant at MP 11.5 on the ocean side. Also try the wild horse tour, see sunset on Jockey Ridge or at Whalehead in Corolla.

Very cute and modern little place in the perfect location! They had everything you could ever need and more. Plus the bed was super comfy! Would definitely return. 😊
Perfect room for a few days at the beach
Perfect room for a few days at the beach. The room is so clean and so well put together. They also leave a binder with different restaurants and things todo every time we ate we used it and every restaurant was amazing. The neighborhood is fantastic close to everything and they even provide nice bikes to be able to bike around.

My girlfriend and I went on our first vacation together & it was our first time in NC together. It was also our first time with airbnb and Chelsey and Darren were amazing from the start! They were so kind to text us along the way and were so welcoming when we arrived! The Honu Hut was absolutely wonderful! It was very clean, comforting, and everything we could have wished for and more. They allowed us to borrow the bikes, chairs, etc. and we're just so kind! We are hoping to come back and visit-- we will definitely choose the Honu Hut! Thanks Chelsey & Darren for making our trip that much more amazing!
