This place is special. Very clean and simple. Felt like it was just us and nature. I’ve spent most of my life going to the outer banks. This place still has that feel. It seemed like it had been subtly and carefully updated and it was refreshing as many places on air bnb have become so forgettable with the black white and grey homogenized decor. The weather was cooler while we were there and it was super cozy for that.

Born to Sun is a fantastic gem in KDH. Love staying here, our 3rd time. Got married right on the beach, and it couldn’t have been more convenient and cozy. Under new management and they were very helpful and responsive.
Wish it was a little cheaper, as we used to rent this place for $1,000 less per week. But it still a great value for all you get while staying here.

We loved our time at Counting Pelicans! Such a beautiful cottage that is decorated in such a way as to make the renter feel at home and at ease. The walk to the beach is easy. Beach views from the porch were the best … especially in the morning with coffee from Ashley’s right down the street!

The house had great amenities. The kitchen was well equipped. Linens were wonderful. The beds were very comfortable, in fact my youngest daughter never sleeps well on the first night away and she slept amazingly well, every night! The hot tub was a nice bonus. The neighborhood is walkable and within a short distance to restaurants and ice cream! The hosts were proactive, friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and look forward to returning!

We absolutely loved our stay. The house was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated, making it feel so welcoming. We greatly appreciated the special gift adding an additional touch of feeling at home. The host was incredibly attentive and answered any questions we had. What really set this apart was the jacuzzi, game room and very short walk to the beach. It really made it so easy to unwind and get into vacation mode. This is by far our favorite rental. We had a great stay at Buzzin’ to the Beach. The house was very clean and had everything we needed, which made settling in easy and comfortable. The hot tub was a highlight and perfect for relaxing after a day in the sun. The house also had plenty to keep everyone entertained, including a pool table and ping pong table, which made it easy to enjoy time together without even leaving the property.
The location really stood out. It was an easy walk to the beach, and we found ourselves going multiple times each day without any hassle. The street was very quiet, which made it feel peaceful and private, yet everything we needed was close by. Having Harris Teeter just two minutes away was incredibly convenient.
Overall, it was a comfortable, well-located spot with great amenities, and we would definitely stay here again.

Had a great few days in Nags Head at The Loophole. It’s just a great spot – the property is full of character but is more than adequately appointed, in a wonderful location, and the place is just easy to live in. We started the vacation as soon as we got the bags inside – access was simple and instructions and label were clear. Really looking forward to the prospect of coming back.

This cottage was in the perfect location, photos accurately represent the interior as well. So clean! What a fun house! Kitchen was stocked better than any other place I’ve stayed. Communication was excellent and it was a prefect week for us. We stayed with our 6 and 15 year old boys and had so much to do, we extended the stay an extra night. If you happen to visit during a week where it’s the first Friday of the month, we recommend going to Manteo on Roanoke for their first Friday event. Down the street is Goombays and it was delicious! Sea Green Gallery and KDH Co-Op is the place to go for souvenirs that are local and original art. Can’t wait to return!

The Mucky Duck Cottage was the perfect weekend getaway for our family of four and our dog. The well appointed interior was exactly as described with beautiful attention to detail and cozy blankets throughout for the breezy sound front evenings. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you’d need for a quick afternoon snack or a full family dinner. The upstairs bathroom was very nicely updated and perfect for a vacation house with the rustic charm…(plus GREAT water pressure – which you don’t always get at a beach rental). There were books for all different types of readers throughout the cottage. There were so many that I wanted to read but alas I didn’t have enough time…I guess we will have to come back.

My husband and I stayed here with our three young kids for a quick spring break getaway and it couldn’t have been more perfect for us. Location is fantastic. Instructions for check in and check out were easy and straight forward. Everything was incredibly clean and clutter free. It was a huge bonus to have gates at stairs with our little ones. The short walk to the beach was a breeze even with three kids. The game room was a bonus on one of the extra windy evenings. Our favorite part was that even if we couldn’t get to the beach in time for sunrise, we were able to head right out to the porch for a peaceful, beautiful start to our day! If we could give our experience at Loophole more than 5 stars, we would! This beach house is not the typical plastic fantastic OBX rental. Instead, it’s a beautiful authentic Nags Head cottage that whispers from a bygone era of slower days, generous hospitality, abundant laughter and good times enjoyed with family and friends. Just walk the house and take in the charm, art and family photos and you’ll feel the “happy.” It’s the perfect place to put down the phones & electronics to create your own family memories. Sunrises, sandy toes and cool salty breezes come easy here. Sunsets can be enjoyed on the front deck too. That ocean view! It’s truly a magical spot! Our family enjoyed gathering on the decks and around the fireplace on the cooler evenings. We walked to Dune Street Grill for their “best on the beach” fish tacos. It truly was a treat! Perfect Nags Head location!

Ok, I don’t usually write reviews but this stay warranted it! I think the Hono Hut has been my favorite AirBnb stay to date! Very clean, comfy beds, tastefully decorated and I absolutely loved the outdoor spaces! We had everything we needed and Darren and Chelsey were very accommodating. Easy check in, great central location, and just an all around great place to stay. This is one that has exceeded my expectations! Highly recommend!

Natalie’s place in Kill Devil Hills is truly the best location in the area. It’s an easy walk to the beach, coffee shops, and great local restaurants. After booking, we also discovered several thoughtful amenities we hadn’t even considered, which made the stay even better. Newly renovated with best location!!! One block from public beach access! Super easy to go to and from the beach all day, without paying beachfront prices and without having to do a long haul.
(Careful: Other beach houses might also technically be one block back from the beach, but then you might have to walk 1/2 mile up or down find public beach access.)
Guessing this was recently renovated. Has peaceful, modern furnishings. Bedrooms have plenty of places to put stuff and bags to stay organized.
Beds are large, comfy, and master bathroom is extra spacious! Hot tub is nicely tucked away for some privacy. Fully enclosed fenced-in backyard.
Enjoyed some stunning sunset views out the kitchen windows. Kitchenware is fully stocked, not bare bones like some.

I must say that my experience here was amazing. The home was beautiful and it was clean. The women of the house utilized that hot tub every single night for peace and tranquility. And the host was simply amazing. Anything we needed that may have been missing they handled it right away. My family and I rode the 5 bikes that they had and it was great seeing my mother and father in law ride as well. The home provides a great family setting and I look forward to possibly coming back!

Amazingly cozy and well-appointed home. We really enjoyed the fireplace given our mid-November stay. The kitchen is so well appointed with everything you need, plus some (I particularly loved all the Vietri dishes as this is a favorite of mine and speaks to quality). The artwork and photographs are endless. The ocean view and beach location (in between 2 very large dunes) is second-to-none. Very close to restaurants and grocery. Pristinely clean. Perfect Beach Getaway!
We had an amazing stay at Hook, Wine & Sinker in Kitty Hawk. The home was spotless, well-maintained, and just a short 5-minute walk to the beautiful OBX beach — perfect for morning strolls and sunset views. The host went above and beyond by welcoming us with a complimentary bottle of wine, and even offered additional bottles in exchange for donations to a local cause, which was a thoughtful and generous touch. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and meaningful beach vacation!

Our stay was very pleasant. The house is in a great location in Duck and the walk to the beach is not bad at all. The house was clean and well kept. We enjoyed the dock on the sound and seeing a lot of wildlife including deer, otters, and rabbits. The only thing lacking was some basic kitchenware including larger mixing bowls and a cutting board.

My daughter, mom and I enjoyed our fall mid-week stay at ‘Buzzin. Check in was seamless. House was just as pictured and very livable. Either the kitchen appliances were brand new or exceptionally maintained. Limited counter space in the kitchen, but well equipped and maximized available space. The townhouse was a great option for the two of us to be oceanfront. The dedicated parking spots beneath the townhouse are very convenient for loading/unloading the car. The location is also great, there is a lot to do within a very short drive and it is just on the other side of the highway from a grocery store. The townhouse was very clean when we arrived and all of the appliances worked great. We are looking forward to seeing the upcoming changes with the primary bedroom renovation and would consider staying again.

Helga’s Hideaway was better than we expected! If you’re like us, we love to be outside when we’re in the Outer Banks. Our favorite part of this house was the screened in wrap around deck. We spent most of our time there and enjoyed the outdoor tv in the evening. We were able to watch our beloved Steelers on Sunday morning play their game from Ireland. We felt like we were in the tree tops on this deck. It was so cozy, quiet and private lounging out there . The kitchen was perfect for having multiple people fixing food at the same time. The beds are so comfortable, probably the most comfortable we’ve ever had in an Airbnb. We loved the downstairs shower, it’s so pretty and spacious. I would definitely choose that bedroom. The hot tub was in a perfect spot to relax and enjoy under a covered roof with plenty of privacy. The outdoor kitchen and bar seating added another fun spot. Natalie was very hospitable and responsive. This is definitely one of our favorite places!

We love visiting this home! This is the second time we have stayed here and can’t wait to stay again. We walk to the coffee shop on the corner every morning for coffee and then walk to the beach for the day. Everything else is so close as well – shopping and restaurants! Highly recommend staying here! The house was perfect for our party of 5 adults and 1 toddler. Everything was very clean, great water pressure in the showers, all the amenities you need. Walkable location to shops, restaurants and to the beach (or grab one of the many available bikes and ride to the beach). The house was so comfortable! We felt right at home and the kitchen had everything we needed. The location of the house is amazing! RIGHT across from beach access, close to grocery stores and restaraunt’s. We all loved the decor and loved the two sitting areas. The kids enjoyed one while the adults the other. The drive-way allowed for us to pull in and turn around so we didn’t need to back out onto Virginia Dare Road. The drive-way was large enough in the back for our grandson to safely enjoy his bicycle. The detached garage had a washer/dryer, another full-sized fridge/freezer, beach toys and wagon. This house would be perfect for a long stay. Loved it!!

Besides a few “hiccups”, everything was great. The biggest compliment we can give is that we definitely want to go back. Great location – we were able to visit attractions south and north with ease. Restaurants and groceries are close. Easy beach access – walkable. Home was easy to find. Although not listed, the kitchen had everything we needed. Well stocked. The only item we couldn’t find was a blender – so if you want to make frozen cocktails or watermelon juice, you may need to bring your own. Maybe we missed it? Everything else in the home (“essential” to us) was there. Plenty of bath towels and soap and shampoo provided in the baths. We loved the screened front porch with glimpses of the ocean and the sound of waves. Downstairs is the icing on the cake – a hot tub that works, a grill, a fun game room (pool table, ping pong, darts, TV plus more), tons of beach stuff, and a great outdoor shower to get the beach off of you. The washer and dryer came in handy. Highly recommend.

Nice beach home. Google gps takes you to the back door/alley so just go around the block if you can’t find it at night. It’s a nice neighborhood and a clean modern interior. We had bad weather so we didn’t get to enjoy it as much. I’d recommend it again though and was just as described.

We had a wonderful stay at this home in Kitty hawk, OBX! The location was fantastic, just one block from the ocean, making it super convenient to enjoy the beach every day. The house was well-equipped and had plenty of beach chairs, which made our trips to the shore even easier. One of the highlights for us was being able to bring our beloved 4-legged daughter Zoe; having a pet-friendly place made the trip extra special, and we truly appreciated it.

We were evacuated from Avon and were lucky enough to find this place in Duck. The home has beautiful natural light and incredible sunsets. The ocean was not swimmable and the beach could not be accessed during the peak high tides from the hurricane, but the sound was calm as could be. The dock made for a great alternative to the beach and the crabbing is incredible! It is also a short walk to the beach and manageable walk/short drive to all the shops in Duck.

Beautiful location so close to the beach. We loved sitting on the deck, watching the waves and sunsets. And we so appreciated the gated yard and deck for our puppies to enjoy this cozy cottage with us. We throughly enjoyed cooking in the well appointed and open kitchen. Mattresses could have been firmer and bedding/towels a little more plush, but a very small point. Perfect week at the beach, even despite Hurricane Erin (loved watching the gnarly waves from such a close vantage point). The beds were extremely comfortable, the space was clean and well-maintained, and there was ample parking. The backyard was perfect for our dog, and the neighborhood is a bustling little area with plenty to do nearby. We loved the screened-in porch with rocking chairs—it was the perfect spot for morning coffee.

Great place for a multigenerational family vacation. Very comfortable and felt familiar very fast. Enough spaces, inside and out, for everyone to be together or find a quiet spot for themselves. The kitchen was very well appointed with probably the best assortment of pots and pans of any place we have rented in the past. The best part was the proximity to the beach, which was an easy walk out the front door to the cross walk and beach access just on the other side of the road. The beaches in this area are not crowded at all so the location is very desirable. The door alarm system to the back yard was somewhat confusing as were the controls to the overhead lights, but we got the hang of it. Looking forward to staying here again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Mucky Duck! The pier was our absolute favorite place! From morning coffee, to post beach and evening sunsets, the pier was the highlight! Our walk to the beach was lovely, along Oyster Catcher Lane and Skimmer Way, the Live Oak Trees were beautiful! Our daughters loved their retreat in the upstairs bedrooms, so spacious, with their own bathroom and amazing view! We would definitely love to return for another visit to the Mucky Duck!🦆

We had a wonderful stay at Honu Hut beach house! The home is modern, cozy, and extremely clean. The kitchen was impressively well equipped—perfect for cooking meals during our stay. The family room was very comfortable and great for relaxing after a day at the beach. What a great house! First, the location is perfect being halfway between the beach and town. Secondly, the house is very nicely decorated and outfitted. The kitchen is very well stocked, the furniture is very comfortable and the front and back decks are great. The pool is wonderful and the addition of for hole is certainly fun. The house also comes with 6 bikes (4 adult and 2 kid bikes), a bike trailer to take beach gear down to the beach, and 8 beach chairs and other sundry items. Overall, this really is a great place for a great beach vacation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at JB by the Sea. The house was clean, well-stocked, in a great location, and Natalie was quick to respond to any questions. We were able to easily walk to the beach & several of our favorite places (Tortugas, Lucky 21, Nags Head Pier, Surfin’ Spoon, Dowdy Park Farmer’s Market, Front Porch Cafe). The house itself was just as shown in the pictures. The A/C worked really well despite temps in the 90s for several days, which we’ve found is not always the case in the OBX. The black-out curtains in the bedrooms were FANTASTIC. The jellyfish/sea lice were bad several days, so it was nice to come back to the pool/tiki bar and hang out. Overall, we had a great time & would 100% recommend this house to anyone.

This was our third summer with our family at Duckin’ Out. We love the location and easy access to the beach and to downtown Duck and the sound. We loved our stay at the Little Pearl! The location is fantastic – directly across from the public beach access and right in the heart of Kill Devil Hills with plenty of shops, restaurants and things to do. The house itself is SO cute and more importantly, it was very clean and comfortable. We appreciated all the beach gear available in the garage (wagon, chairs, umbrellas, buckets, boogie boards) and Brittany was quick to answer any questions we had. The house was put together very well and very clean. The backyard was wonderful and great for people with pets being completely fenced in. Without a doubt this place was remarkable!! Stunning updated house with beautiful furniture, decor and landscaping. Everyone had their own full size bathroom which was super convenient, especially when we everyone’s getting ready at the same time! Beds were very comfortable! We loved all the various outdoor spaces, outdoor TV and hammock swings. The pool was amazing and less than 5 minutes from the beach! We would definitely stay again!!

Throughly enjoyed our stay at Mucky Duck! The house is beautifully decorated and the furniture is perfect for relaxing and taking in the fantastic view. We loved the view from the upstairs king bedroom, almost felt like being in a treehouse overlooking the water. We found the house to be extremely clean, which we very much appreciated! While Duck is a high traffic area ,the landscaping at Mucky Duck makes it feel secluded. The location was perfect for our family, just north of Duck (past the heaviest traffic) with an easy trip to grocery stores in Corolla or a quick trip into Duck for the delicious restaurants and shopping. We highly recommend Cravings and Donutz On a Stick (delicious for those with Gluten allergies too) both were repeat stops for us. We loved Mucky Duck so much we’re looking at Fall dates for a quick getaway. Thanks for being a great host Natalie!

It had all the kitchen needs one would need on a visit and many more amenities that anyone would need. We vacationed a few days with our two kids and dog. The kids loved having their own bedrooms and the fenced in backyard was a perfect space. You have truly thought of everything. The binder with suggestions was so useful. We had delicious coffees and dinners per the recommendations! The kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked with everything you could need. 10/10!! Write Off the Beach is conveniently located on a beach access street, with close proximity to grocery stores, shops, and restaurants. The house had enough space for several adults to park and stay comfortably!
Some things that would make the stay even better is if there was a clear list of what to expect and not expect in the house. For example, Natalie was very clear we would not get personal toiletries. However, we were unclear on what kitchen supplies were included as some items were missing (dish sponge, counter cleaner) and others were simply not included (ziplock bags). We communicated with Natalie and she remediated the missing items, but it was frustrating to not have aligned expectations.
Additionally, I think this space is rented week-to-week with very little time to turnover. That means if something breaks or a previous renter is not mindful, you may have to manage that on your vacation. This only manifested in minor issues for us.
All around would recommend and enjoyed!

Natalie’s place was wonderful! The house was spotless and just as described. The screened in deck is perfection. We spent all of our free time out there! There were lots of thoughtful little touches that especially made our kids feel right at home! We did end up driving to the beach since you have to cross the main roads to get there. We didn’t have any issues finding parking and new beach areas to explore! I’d absolutely recommend this house to anyone!

Our Outer Banks accomodations were nice and easy, and Brittany and Lauren were quick to answer our few questions. Because the weather was so rainy that first afternoon, it would have nice to have the flexibility to check in early, so we did not have to get so soaked carrying everything up the open stairs. What a perfect stay! The home couldn’t be more beautiful with adorable bedrooms that feel like luxury hotel bedrooms. There is a cute breakfast nook with a view of the ocean, and an incredible top level deck overlooking the pool and ocean. We had a great 7-day vacation/business retreat with a group of six. The house was clean, safe, and spacious, with three bathrooms and an outdoor shower. Beds were comfy, the kitchen was well stocked, and the washer/dryer were a huge plus for a longer stay. The beach was a short walk, and we loved the nearby restaurants and activities.
On day 2, I noticed both upstairs showers were leaking into the downstairs bedroom. The host responded quickly and sent someone to assess it. One shower was manageable by adjusting the showerhead, but the other continued to leak, which made it inconvenient for the couple staying below as they had to change wet sheets a few times. To avoid more issues, my partner and I used the outdoor shower instead (which I actually enjoyed). The host said a fix for the shower is planned, which will remedy any future issues.
Overall, we adjusted and still enjoyed the stay. I’d recommend it for a family or small group retreat.

We are a family of 3 with a dog. The house was really comfortable, and we felt right at home. It was great to relax in the hot tub and play pool in the game room. The beach was a very short walk from the house and being able to see the ocean from the deck was a constant reminder of where we were and what we were there for. The host was very responsive and friendly. She was even accommodating when we decided to extend our stay by a night. In all the house was perfect for our vacation. We have already talked about booking it again next year.

What a beautiful house with great access to the beach! The recent renovations combined with a private pool really give this place an upscale feel. The beds are very comfortable and the common spaces are so cozy for relaxing, the kitchen is well equipped as well. There was an issue with the microwave on our first night, but Brittany was supper responsive and had a new one delivered to us the very next morning. This house will definitely be at the top of our list when we plan our next visit to the OBX.

Natalie’s house is pristine and modern. It was impeccably clean and neat. The pool and hot tub were a wonderful touch, as well as the arcade games in the ground level room. It was a wonderful experience. The house is super cozy and all the spaces are different and big enough to enjoy them. The terrace is incredible! You can choose the orientation is more convenient for the time of the day.
You can walk to the beach barefoot!
We just have an issue because of the dishwasher not running but the owners response always extremely fast and in a proactive way.

Hook, Wine and Sinker is hands-down one of the best Airbnb stays we’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the charm, cleanliness, and thoughtful touches throughout the home. The location is absolutely unbeatable—just a short stroll to the beach with stunning views and the peaceful vibes you’d expect from the Outer Banks.
The house itself is beautifully decorated with coastal flair, and every room feels welcoming and cozy. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed, and the open layout made it perfect for hanging out with friends and family. We especially loved the spacious deck—ideal for sipping wine in the evenings and watching the sunset.
The hosts clearly care about their guests. They provided a detailed welcome guide, local recommendations, and even a few surprise treats that made us feel right at home. Every little detail was spot-on.

This is our third year in a row staying in OBX at Born to Sun. We love this beach house like it is our own. The proximity to the beach is ideal for our 14 year old Chiweenie, who loves running on the beach but gets tired easily now. The home is well kept, has everything you need for a relaxing stay, is on a quiet street but near anything you could need. The location is amazing, the scenery is great and being at the beach was everything I hoped it would be. We did hit a snag halfway through the trip where the hot water went out but the host was on top of it with responsiveness and communicated clearly throughout the process. It was easy to check in and out. The house is completely furnished with everything you could possibly need for a fun trip. The only thing I can think of to make this house perfect is to replace the queen mattress to make it less uncomfortable because it was sunken in on one side. Scouting Waves is a lovely spot and Natalie is an ideal host! This is a newly renovated property that offers a great layout for guests and families traveling together. The house is comfy and pool is delightful. I suspect we are one of few guests who’ve stayed at Scouting Waves since the renovation, and while there could have been more dining seating and a *front and center* info sheet, my interactions with Natalie were so pleasant and prompt and she offered immediate solutions! This was a lovely historic cottage, steps from the beach. With the beach in line of sight, and Jockeys Ridge behind us, we had a wonderful off season stay. The cottage is well appointed with decorative touches that showcase the history of the home and Jockeys Ridge. Because it is a historic home, minor things like doors not latching, uneven floors can be overlooked and in some respect added to its charm. The kitchen, bathrooms and beds all were fine. But we would suggest the host supply small beach supplies like beach chairs and an umbrella. Our stay was four days in the shoulder season and we found the setting to be just the right mix of proximity to the beach and Jockeys Ridge and great restaurants. Main concern was all of the construction from the adjacent homes being renovated. The wraparound porch with rocking chairs and benches was a great place to enjoy the ocean breeze and, both sunrises and sunsets. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back.

We had an absolutely wonderful time during our stay. The hosts provided lots of information we needed to make it memorable and easy. The house had everything we needed and more. We especially loved sitting outside in the evenings enjoying the beautiful spring weather and counting stars in the sky. We put puzzles together on the kitchen table and watched a number of fun movies and shows from the comfort of the large sofa. We also slept very well in the comfortable beds and in a very peaceful and quiet neighborhood. We were conveniently located to everything we needed on a vacation and a huge plus was our hosts left many great suggestions for restaurants and cafes close by that we loved. The beach was amazing and we were able to see lots of dolphins, seagulls, and pelicans. All-in-all we had a wonderful time and we definitely will look forward to another stay at Chelsey and Darren’s beach house very soon. Absolutely loved it!

Lovely place, it truly is right on the beach, as opposed to a lot of “beachfront” homes. You step off the back deck onto the dune! The house was spotless, with no pet hair, which is huge to us. Natalie’s house in Luray, VA was lovely! It was calm and peaceful, as well as comfortable! The decor was well done and cozy. The home was especially well set up for children – there was a pack and play, high chair, gate for the stairs, and a child lock on the cleaning cabinet, as well as toys to play with! It made traveling with two infants much easier! Natalie was welcoming and friendly and the location is perfect for walking to local spots and exploring downtown Luray, as well as only a short drive to the Thornton Gap entrance to the Shenandoah National Park. We had a great time and would absolutely stay here again!

Great place, floor plan worked really well — providing space for a toddler to run and enjoy toys, and privacy for the adults. Stairs are steep — that’s the only thing to be aware of if you have any pets or adults / kids who have trouble navigating stairs. Otherwise, GREAT location, easy access to the beach, and terrific spa pool.

Brittany’s place was exactly as described. Very close to the beach, one thing to note, right before we got to the house there was a big storm so the street out front was not walkable as it was flooded. You could drive through it, or walk through the restaurant parking lot to get around the water to access the beach. But that was Mother Nature, and the water stayed away from the house.
This was our first time in the Outer Banks and it was my favorite vacation.
We cooked one night and had everything we needed.
We would definitely book again!

Loophole was wonderful! Our private beach entrance was the closest that we’ve ever been to the surf–maybe 10 steps max from the house. The multiple decks with plenty of seating overlooked the ocean, and there were Adirondack chairs and tables right on the beach for our use. Nice added touches were fluffy beach towels, coffee, ice machine, washer and dryer. We also loved the beach artwork and felt right at home with the cozy furnishings and comfy bed. There were plenty of dishes, drinkware, coasters, and sand chairs. If you’re looking for a sterile condo, this isn’t it, but if you’re after a historic home right on the beach, you’ve found your place. (Note that the hallways and one of the bathrooms might be a tight squeeze for some larger folks.) We’ll be back!

Really clean, new home. Felt comfortable for our large group. Location was a bit too far to walk to the beach with gear but easy to drive. A few restaurants walking distance which was nice ! We enjoyed our stay.
Main downside – towels (bath and beach) and beach chairs/umbrellas are not provided and house is sparse in terms of supplies (think toilet paper, paper towels, no broom, hand towels, napkins, etc. ). We were a large regroup flying in for vacation with children and had to buy a ton of stuff, which adds to the hassle and expense.

This house was perfect for the week! Walkable to the beach, to restaurants, duck donuts, the boardwalk. Super convenient! The house had everything you could think of, we so appreciated the stocked kitchen, it made cooking at the house so easy. The beds were comfortable. The location was perfect and such a quick walk to the beach. Quiet neighborhood even with being close to the beach road. The directions on the location of where the EV plug were not clear, but the host quickly replied. We also had minor issues with bathroom linens and were advised new were coming, but they didn’t. Since there were 3 of us, we utilized linens from the other room we didn’t use. A full listing of appliances (coffee pot etc.) would be helpful avoiding packing those things and the book for the house was under blankets when we arrived, so unfortunately I had to message the host for questions that were easily answered in the book. Overall great stay and would come back.

Brittany’s home was perfect for our stay! The amenities were great – outdoor shower, hot tub, multiple bathrooms, beach chairs provided! There are plenty of kitchen supplies and a Keurig as well. Nice and walkable to the beach! Brittany was very responsive and we were even able to check in an hour early. We’ll be back 🙂

Natalie’s property was great for us! Comfortably fit all of us with no issues. All bathrooms, the kitchen, and the outside closet were stocked with everything we needed to last a little less than a week. Ample parking, a great hot tub, and spacious indoors allowed us a place to chill, get ready, play card games, or cook. Would come here again for another vacation in North Carolina.

Made for a great beach vacation. We traveled with small children so the proximity to the beach and mainland were perfect! Some restaurants and stores were within walking distance and everything else was only a short drive away. Pool was great and very clean! Didn’t use the downstairs game room or any of the beach/pool supplies because everything had a very strong musk/mold smell, I would suggest packing your own. Also the gas grill was in poor condition, plan your meals accordingly. Overall, I would recommend this rental.

We had an amazing stay! The house was beautiful, exceptionally clean, and had everything we needed for a perfect vacation. The home was not only well-equipped but also decorated BEAUTIFULLY. Natalie was extremely responsive and made sure everything went smoothly. We especially loved the private pool and the fenced-in yard, which was perfect for our pups. The house is very spacious, with plenty of room for everyone to have their own space depending on your family size, including separate bedrooms and bathrooms, which was a huge plus. The provided bikes were a great touch—we had so much fun cruising around in the evenings! We were easily able to walk to the beach if wanted, but also found parking when we wanted to drive up with no problem!
The main strip is not super walkable, but it was an easy 5 minutes drive to get coffee, custard, or do some souvenir shopping!

Oh, wow! I don’t even know where to start. Before our trip even started, Brittany was overly communicative and responsive. She was absolutely amazing!!! I was able to coordinate the delivery and set up of some decorations upon my arrival, as this was a surprise, bachelorette trip for one of my girlfriends. The set up, the Airbnb, and the location exceeded all of my expectations completely. This place made me fall in love with the OBX. I will 100% be back to experience more the OBX has to offer. Write Off the Beach was a perfect place for our first visit to the Outer Banks. It was roomy and beautifully decorated. The location was a nice, quiet neighborhood with wide paths for walking and biking, but also very close to restaurants and the beach. Natalie was so patient with all of my questions as we dealt with a tropical storm arriving during our stay. We hope to be back again and actually visit the beach.

Our family had an amazing trip to OBX and our stay here made it all that much better. The property was very nice, looked just as the pictures showed and Natalie was very quick to respond with any questions. Our family of five had plenty of room and the game room downstairs was a hit with the kids! My wife and daughter like to run and being on the bay side of of 158 was actually a nice change. I also took my 4 y/o son fishing on one of the piers on the bay side a couple times and it was great! All in all it was a great place to stay with lots to do and very convenient! Highly recommended! My friends and family went and stayed here for a quick trip. The place was great and walkable distance to the beach. We asked for early check in and we weren’t able to and then asked for a late check out due to the weather when we came in being nasty, so we just wanted a little more time but we couldn’t get that either. Other than that i have no complaints she was responsive the place was just as pictured.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location is literally perfect. The beach is SO close. If you have middle schoolers, they can easily walk back and forth. Can’t emphasize enough the perfect location. We walked to the coffee shop on the corner twice and enjoyed it. The muffins and coffees were incredible. 10/10. The only “issue” we had was the downstairs staying quite cold while the upstairs was warmer so we couldn’t figure out how to regulate that. Owners offered to help but we were close to checkout time so it was ok. My only suggestion would be one more chair in the living space or possibly a loveseat in place of the single chair. Otherwise, everyone was comfortable. The fenced in yard is small but efficient for a dog to do its business. It a nice benefit!

The house was a perfect fit for our first ever family vacation (6 adults, 4 children, 1 infant). The home was large enough that each family had a designated floor. Our oldest grandchildren loved having the bunk bed room. The arcade was a big hit as well. We had the option to go to the beach or use the pool or both. The kids spent an entire afternoon in the pool.
The home is configured well with plenty of space for everyone to be together or to take some time to relax by themselves.
The home amenities are very nice. Plenty of dishware/glasses for a large family. The children dishes are a great touch especially for families with younger children. Additionally there is booster chair and pack/play crib available for families with wee ones. The bikes are great. Our son/daughter-in-law biked to the pier and my husband biked home from the beach.
Our host, Natalie, went out of her way to help us and we are grateful.
All in all a perfect family vacation!

This was our second time at Duckin’ Out and we just love it. The location is perfect- close to the beach and downtown. They have everything- fully stocked kitchen, bikes and a trailer to haul beach gear, beach items, etc. They have thought of everything in the details to make you feel at home! The pool is so nice after a long day at the beach too! Communication is great and Brittany reached out to let us know the house was ready a bit early- so nice after a long drive with kids. Also, they left the sweetest welcome bag with items for our kiddos that they loved. We are always sad to leave and can’t wait to come back!

We had such an amazing time! We felt right at home and you can’t beat the proximity to the beach with a pretty view from the front porch. The house was clean, super cute and had everything we needed. The hot tub was spotless and worked perfectly and theres plenty of outdoor seating. The wine donation/charity system is so sweet and thoughtful. Would definitely return! I’d recommend leaving your pups at home or bring a pair of thick booties because you can’t escape the spurs but that’s pretty much anywhere in Kitty Hawk. Overall great place and great hosts.

Although the cleaning was delayed at check-in, the house was clean and well-organized. It was convenient as the beach and places to visit were nearby. However, there were quite a few flies and mosquitoes, possibly due to standing water. Other than that, it was convenient to use.

Clean, bright, MUCH larger living space than the pictures made it look, plentiful linens, a pool so lovely that the kids whined about going to the beach, many (many!) helpful labels, a kitchen stocked well enough that we were able to cook 3 meals a day for all the kids without issue. Park and Paddle was outstanding and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Nags Head. The house was exactly as shown in the description and decorated beautifully. We all loved the look of the bed linens and sofas and outdoor furniture. Natalie has great style.
The appliances are all top of the line and the kitchen has everything you need.
The outdoor pool was our favorite place to hang out and we absolutely loved the five bikes for cruising around.
It was well worth the rental price and we hope to return.

Great location and easy access to the beach! Although it was just the two of us for the week, this home has ample space to utilize for multiple guests and includes a lot of extras. You really just need to bring your bathing suit, beach towel, sunscreen, and toiletries. Very nicely decorated, clean, and plenty of parking available.

Our stay at Park & Paddle was wonderful. Location was great; walkable to the beach and easy to bike ride to shops, restaurants and the grocery store. The house was very clean and the perfect size for us. The arcade and pool got plenty of use and we BBQ’s or cooked almost every meal which was extremely convenient. Perfect spot for all ages and having 5 bikes available for our use was unexpected and much appreciated. Natalie was very responsive and the property was just as listed. We always vacation in Duck and enjoyed this home very much! It was very spacious and clean. It had everything you could need for your family getaway. The kitchen was well stocked and spacious. The rooms had plenty of space with TV’s and fans as well. The pool was refreshing on days you couldn’t battle the waves at the beach. The bikes were nice to have to go to the beach and to go into town. If needed, the host and owners were always available to be reached. I would highly recommend this home to anyone considering this one for a family vacation!

This was a fantastic place to stay if you’re looking for a place in the OBX that is peaceful and near the beach. Great for a bunch of young adults vacationing with their mother.
Beach is within 5 minute walk, and it’s incredibly easy to get on. But the hot tub was one of our favorite amenities. Great to watch the sun set while relaxing in it. Game room was really fun too.
The location is favorable if you’re looking to both be close to the beach and near several beach-town activities. Mini golf, the flight museum, and an underrated escape room are within 10 minutes of driving.
We are looking forward to renting this place again next year!

This home was located in a quiet neighborhood near a cudesac. The level of cleanliness was outstanding! The two decks and the enclosed pool area were wonderful. Although the walk to the beach is doable, we ended up renting a golf cart to get to and from the beach. There is a neighborhood ice cream shop that was nice to visit. Grocery shopping is convenient with many stores close and there is a Target nearby, too. We used Instacart for our food delivery.
The pool and hot tub area are fenced in and there is a nice bar area with a sink. There is a refrigerator that is accessible from the downstairs area. I would recommend buying bags of ice if you plan on filling a cooler.
The owners responded quickly to our questions. This is a dog friendly home, but we did not see any signs of damage or wear and tear.

Perfect place for the 4th of July with two teens! Easy access to the beach, a coffee shop and ice cream place! Such a cute cottage-well appointed kitchen, had what we needed for beach. Only thing missing was a usable grill. Otherwise we thought it was perfect. Had a couple of issues while we were there (dirty linens-linen company, and leaky roof)-hosts were VERY responsive. Both addressed immediately. Also, would note, that although we are pet friendly, we did not bring our furbabies. Considering this house allows dogs, it’s very well maintained and cleaned. Our extended family had a great stay at one of Natalie’s houses in Nags Head. We were the first guests in this house. The house was beautiful and decorated so nicely. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was gorgeous and so spacious. It made family meal time really nice and easy.
Being the first guests, there were a couple hiccups, and Natalie and her husband were so incredibly responsive and kind in helping us get things taken care of quickly. Absolutely nothing that would keep us from coming back! If anything, it just showed how great they were to work with.

This is the 2nd time I’ve stayed here, and it was better than I remember! The house was in pristine condition and there have been some upgrades since I last stayed (the retractable doggie gates on the stairs are GREAT)! I usually have anxiety when I stay in new places, but both times I’ve stayed, I felt right at home. The home is VERY clean and comfortable! You can tell the owners kept renters in mind when creating this home – each bedroom has its own tv, fan, dresser, etc. The porch wraps on 2 sides of the house so lots of room to gather on a beautiful evening. You can see the ocean from the porch and it’s 3 minute walk to the beach. This will be the only house I ever rent when visit Kitty Hawk!

Beautiful place and amazing location, Literally 1/2 a block from beach access, what more can you ask for?! The beds are so comfy, we definitely enjoyed a meal or 2 outside on the deck, having the table and chairs is such a nice touch, plus having perfect weather with a nice breeze coming off the ocean certainly helped. The fenced in yard is so convenient with the pups, I think they spent more time outside than inside which typically isn’t the case when taking trips with pets. We try to make it down to Obx at least once a year and in the past have always gone the Hotel route since we’re a small family renting a house never seemed feasible. Now that I know that this Airbnb has rates that are priced in same ball park as a hotel suite while getting an entire place… we’re never looking back. Overall, such a great experience, not a single negative thing for say, we will be 100000% rebooking in the future.

We were so happy to have booked this house for our family’s vacation to the OBX. This house was perfect in every way. The house had everything that was listed and even more. The little items such as the beach cart, the beach tent , the boogie boards, cooking wear, and even makeup remover for the bathrooms were so thoughtful. This is our second time at Born to Sun and it met our previously high expectations. The location is perfect, mere steps from the beach. Our 13 year old chiweenie, Ted, had such a great time last year we had to come back for a Tedcation! He remembered the house immediately when we walked in and was right at home. The place is very clean and the kitchen comes well stocked. We cooked many meals at home. The hosts have plenty of beach amenities to use – chairs, umbrellas, wagon etc. We come during off season and basically have a private beach! Close driving distance to many activities and sights OBX has to offer. Neighborhood is quiet and we really feel at home in this rental. Looking forward to coming back again for year 3!

Our small family of three felt very comfortable in this house. We used the deck daily both for early morning coffee and at night to watch the sunsets. The beach access was so close we were able to walk to and from the beach easily. We grilled two nights and hung out on the Adirondack chairs, which were very comfortable. I booked this home to attend a wedding and reception at the Pier House, as it was just a block away. The walkability was awesome plus this home allowed me to bring my dog and host supplied thoughtful dogs bowls, treats, and waste bags available upon my arrival. As an Airbnb Superhost myself, hosting 30 properties in central Florida, I would say I have a pretty discerning eye for cleanliness and amenities and I was very pleased with all. The personalized local eatery recommendations with menus attached was super helpful and thoughtful as well, a wonderful touch to an already great stay. You also can’t beat that Duck’s Donuts is just around the corner! I would definitely recommend this home and would absolutely stay again.

This is a cute and cozy beach house with many nice touches. The host thought of everything you would need! It’s in a great location with an ocean view, steps from the beach access and near many restaurants and stores. It’s very clean, some soaps and paper products were provided. The beds are very comfortable (just watch out for the wood footboard, it will leave a bruise!). I loved the colors and beach decor. Since the weather wasn’t ideal, we did a lot of relaxing and just enjoyed our time at the house. The host was wonderful to communicate with. The house is a gem. It IS a true beach house that has been the setting for lots of sweet family memories. When we first walked in it felt very warm and welcoming PLUS you look out the windows and see the ocean. Walk out the backdoor and lots of outside ocean-view seating and literally steps to the beach (and a wrap around porch). The house was immaculate and everything we needed was there. Small details throughout the house were a plus….lots of hooks, beach towels, closets with hangers, easily accessible instructions, great lighting, tons of cute coffee mugs, I could go on … We would stay again and plan to at another time since the weather wasn’t so cooperative for us.

Brittany’s place is a beautiful little cottage right on the beach road, easy walking distance to the public beach access and a couple good restaurants (Art’s Place and Ocean Boulevard). The home truly felt like a home versus a rental property and was stocked with everything we needed. The only thing we wished we had brought is our own pillows…the beds are very comfortable, and the pillows are soft but perhaps we are “particular” about our pillows because they were rather small. Would absolutely come again!

Visiting the Outer Banks in March can be a bit tricky navigating the hit-or-miss weather. But my teenager, our puppers, and myself took the risk for his spring break however, knowing it would be a very different type of beach vacation than in the heat of summer. It was cold, it was windy, and it was WONDERFUL!! I picked Brittany’s place because it looked so very warm and cozy if we had to stay in a bit due to the weather and it DID NOT disappoint! And the windows!! Everywhere! And though you are not directly on the water, it is close enough to HEAR and SMELL the ocean with enough view through the dunes and minimal houses. And seriously, just steps to the beach, no exaggeration like some other listings. It is obvious someone took the time and care to renovate this place for a modern yet warm and inviting feel. And the kitchen! Gorgeous! And loaded with everything you could possibly need. Oh and soo dog friendly!! They thought of everything!

The down stairs is not attached or accessible from upstairs internally but you can easily enjoy hours on the pool table in the bottom section of the house. We had a very enjoyable week between Christmas and New Year’s in Nag’s Head at Natalie’s home. The home easily accommodated our gang of five adults, with ample seating, clean bedrooms and bathrooms and a kitchen well stocked so we could cook together! Our goal for the week was simply to get away and relax and the home supported that goal very well! We played cards and games at the large kitchen table and the guys watched football while the ladies did a little shopping. The hot tub was a super relaxing treat and enough local places were open to find a good balance between staying in and going out – we found two great brew pubs and some fun coffee shops. The walk to the beach was a breeze and we took advantage of that and the cooperating weather to take a long walk every day. Natalie was very responsive when I had a question, and provided some suggestions for going out. I would definitely recommend this property and Natalie as a host!

We booked this for a multi family getaway on Thanksgiving week. It was a great setup for two families which included having multiple amenities for a toddler. (Great game room in basement where we spent lots of time) During our stay we had a leak and issue with our dryer which prevented us from washing our towels, I messaged the hosts and within 10 mins we had a response, additional towels on the way and a plumber on the way. The hosts communication was amazing and even let us have a late check out as our flight got delayed and toddler needed somewhere to nap. Honestly probably best hosts I’ve ever communicated with while renting home before.

This was a great house for our long weekend at the beach. It was wonderfully clean and easy to get to. The hot tub was nice as was the pool table in the garage. The garage was a fantastic extra space for our bikes – easy access and storage for the time. The kitchen has little to no storage or counter space. Meal prep will be tough for larger groups.
Clean sheets and towels were on the beds when we arrived – sealed in plastic wrapping. The only downside to this is that there are no extra towels in the house. If you have 8 people and only get 8 bath towels, it can be tricky as time goes on if someone used one for the hot tub or needs to wipe excess water on the bathroom floor. We only had 5 people so there were 3 extra towels if needed.
The beach was close by and access was easy. It was a quiet area to bike/walk and there were plenty of restaurants in the area as well as mini-golf, parks, and things to do.
The host responded immediately to any question. Great stay. Would do it again.

What a beautiful place! The house is close to the beach (1 block)and because of the multi raised decks you can see and hear the ocean. We had superb weather but on a rainy day, you can play at home with 2 TV’s, pool table, ping pong and fooseball. There is a nice pool in the backyard. We were there in the end of Oct. so the swimming pool was closed but the hot tub was opened and fantastic. The home itself is large with 2 open concept living spaces. The master bedroom is on the 3rd floor. It’s very large, complete with jet tub and a private deck. Brittany and co. were great returning a left behind suitcase to us (thank you soooo much❤️) and were very proactive in keeping us informed with all of the activities happening on OBX while we were there. Our family had such a terrific time hand gliding and perusing the beaches for shells we’d love to do it again next year…starting a new family tradition!! PS. Our dog was in heaven too, it has an enclosed yard and a dog friend beach.

We had a lovely stay! The home was beautifully decorated, inviting, and clean! It felt like home and we felt spoiled from the moment we walked in the door. The living room furniture was beautiful and comfortable. The front and back porches were relaxing spots to enjoy our coffee in the morning, and a glass of wine in the evenings. The mattresses were incredibly comfortable and supportive! The hot tub was a perfect way to wind down at the end of the day and our teens enjoyed the pool table on the bottom floor. It was an easy walk to the beach and Duck Donuts (yay!). This was our first family trip to the OBX, and we definitely plan to return. The perfect spot!

Natalie was incredibly responsive. We had an issue come up where we had accidentally locked ourselves out of the house, and she showed up to let us in within 15 minutes (on a Sunday)! She was super kind and understanding — an all-around great host.

The house is in a great location, only a minute walk to the beach and a short drive to restaurants and stores! We loved sitting in the rocking chairs every morning while our dog was basking in the sun on the porch and we enjoyed soaking in the hot tub in the evenings! We were all so pleased with all the the child-friendly accommodations. The place came with spare baby gates, high-chair, pack-n-play and locking gates on the outside decks which were great for containing children and pets!
The 2 minute walk to the beach was incredible and the house had more than enough beach gear for our entire crew. Pool and hot tub were very clean! This home was exactly what we needed and we all really enjoyed our stay in Kitty Hawk!

We had a great stay! The house is in an amazing location – short walk to the beach. There is also a coffee shop down the street that has excellent coffee! We were traveling with two under 3, and the house was perfect for us. Not many obstacles for them and it was a child safe environment! They really loved the buggy provided and wanted rides to the beach constantly! Unfortunately, the oven was not working during our stay which hindered some of my meal planning, but Brittany communicated that upfront. We will definitely stay again if the opportunity presents itself!

This place was wonderful! We enjoyed the beach, the close by restaurants, the hot tube, the game room and of course the wine! Everything is squeaky clean and kitchen is well stocked! You have partial view of the ocean—perfect to drink your coffee or tea in the mornings seating at the front porch! You can also enjoy the ocean view from the dining/living room and kitchen area!

We had a wonderful time and the house has a cute rustic coastal vibe, and very clean with a great ocean view. It was perfect for our small group. The beach was steps away and the weather was perfect all week. Water activities within 10 minutes of house that included jet ski rental and the dolphin boat tour. Coffee cafe was a few houses down and Restaurants were very close. Dinner had to be early to avoid long wait times, but that is to be expected at the beach. Everything you could need is at this house. Brittany was quick to assist us with any questions we had. We definitely recommend this house for all, and for your fur babies it is a perfect setup.

It was perfect for my 4 young adult children and myself. The space inside allowed for plenty of family time and space for private time. Every amenity you didn’t even know you needed was available. The outdoor space was wonderful. The pool was private and my kids loved the hammock under the house. The bikes and beach chairs were very much appreciated and got a lot of use! It was a very easy bike ride to the beach and also to stores and restaurants. I didn’t realize the space and location would be as amazing as they were and am blown away by our amazing, stress-free vacation. We’re ready to book for next year! Thank you!

We stayed at “Waiting on You”, and were very happy with our experience overall. The place was as photographed; it had a clean, modern beach aesthetic with bright colors and a relaxing feel.
Cons:
-Beds were not “made and ready” as advertised; we had to put the sheets on (which was a bear on the top bunks); they were also a dense memory foam that was not kind to my or my husband’s backs (though this is different for everyone I’m sure)
-no coffee at the coffee bar, only tea
-no counter space for meal prep — a rolling buffet or other table next to the dishwasher would go a long way
Pros:
-fantastic location, VERY close to the beach and plenty of activities nearby
-entertainment at the house including the hot tub and billiards
-excellent, responsive host (Brittany)
-outdoor shower to clean off the beach before going inside
-thoughtful supplies that we forgot, like salt & pepper, a dish sponge, toiletries
-bath towels were provided

Our group loved having two living areas to utilize as well as the 2 minute walk to the beach. The house is equipped with kitchen gear, beach gear (including coolers), and games to play.
It is centrally located in my favorite area of the Outerbanks, close by to grocery stores and restaurants.
We greatly enjoyed the decor and charm of this house!

Brittany’s home was everything we were looking for and more! We absolutely loved our stay. Everything was exactly as pictured, very clean, and the location was perfect! Super close to the beach but also was nice to have so much in walking distance. We loved being able to get up and walk to grab fresh donuts and coffee in the morning, and walk to runaway cafe or arts place for dinner! We also loved having the pool and hot tub to relax in after the beach or as an alternative to going to the beach for the day! The description said that the property was steps from the beach, well sometimes you think to yourself…sure…sure it is…well in the case of ‘Born to Sun’ it certainly was just steps to the beach. With two small kids and a dog, being close to the beach benefitted our family so much. The property was nicely decorated, and well appointed, outdoor shower (with hot & cold water) was great, the 1st floor deck was so nice to be able to have an early breakfast to watch the sunrise and an evening drink after its cooled off for the day. Overall this is a solid 4.6 to 4.8 rated property and I’d highly suggest that you check it out.

We loved our recent stay! The cottage was so cute and perfect for our family of four and our pup. The gated deck gave him a perfect spot to lounge in the sun. The location is fantastic! This cottage is the closest we’ve been to the beach without staying right on the beach- it was just a short walk to the access. And because there’s no public parking lot on this street, the beach wasn’t crowded at all. We walked to Amy’s Espresso for iced coffee most mornings and really appreciated the fact that there’s a sidewalk (helpful with a dog!) and that the surrounding neighborhood was quiet.

The 1 min walk to the beach was priceless — especially for a 3 and 6 yr old.
All beach items (wagon, chairs, kid toys/buckets/shovels, umbrellas..and more) were provided and saved us van space. Not only were there beach items but everything else you can think or needed there too (We loved the board game area)!
As for the interior space — it was more than enough and the customized decorations gave us that perfect beach vibe!We loved being there and wish we could’ve stayed longer…

Really enjoyed our stay. Very comfortable house. Natalie was a great host. She was responsive and got us a baby gate so we could keep the dogs on the front porch. We had bungee cords to attach it and it worked beautifully. The back deck has a wider 48″ wide stairway which was a little more challenging to block off. She also had delicious coffee there 4 us.
Nice hairdryer in the master bath. Hand soap in a pump was at the sinks but do bring your own shower soap and shampoo.
The beach is not a bad walk away and the wagon at the house is great, but when we had a lot of heavy gear we drove it to the beach. Once when the parking lot was full, my husband drove the car back and used one of the bikes to return. The bikes were not all in working condition, but the one he used was fine.
We cooked quite a bit and the kitchen was well stocked, but I do think it would have been nice to have a citrus sqeezer, a zester, and a cheese slicer/shredder.
We would definately stay here again.

We love Duckin’ Out!!! This was our second time here in this home… we loved our stay even more. Close to the beach and town, able to bike everywhere! Lots of beach chairs available and a ton of indoor family games to choose from to play at night or whenever…. No need to bring your own (we have older children)! Also, fully equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need! Almost forgot to mention the beautiful pool area and, my favorite space- the screened-in porch. We are so happy at this home. I highly recommend!

We loved our stay here! The house was extremely clean and had all the amenities we could have asked for. Very quick and easy walk to the beach. One thing to note – there is a large public beach parking lot right next to the house, so get there early during prime season if you want a good spot on the beach! Great location and updated home. Cleanest beach house we have ever stayed at! I vacationed here with 4 adults and 1 child. Plenty of room. Two working refrigerators is perfect for larger families or a second space for cold drinks. Beach was less than a 2 minute walk away. Private backyard with pool was the icing on the cake. What a great place! Our group had 4 adults and 4 younger kids. We had plenty of space and it was comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well stocked- we enjoyed cooking quite a few meals while we were there. We checked out Duck Donuts & The Rundown Cafe within walking distance. Groceries were only a short drive away. We loved having the beach within walking distance. There were plenty of beach items for us to use as well: chairs, a cart, toys for the kids. The pool was well kept and we used it daily. It was nice having a gate to the pool that latched only from the inside so the younger kids couldn’t get in on their own. Having a space dedicated for a game room was fun for the kids (and adults!) as well. Our week in Kitty Hawk was wonderful. We would definitely recommend this house to others and would love to be able to stay again sometime!

We love this little spot at Duck. This was our 4th time to enjoy the home, and each time we go, the house has gotten new amenities, great artwork accents, etc. What started out as a place my sister-in-law found for us to take our combined 6 kids for a final summer beach week while the dads stayed home and worked, to bringing back my kids and husband as a family of 6 to enjoy together >> It’s always cozy and feels like home, fresh and simple. We all love the bikes to get to and from the beach, plus the ice cream shop in the evening (of course!). From playing one of the many games they have to lounging by the pool when kids are tired of the sand, it’s the perfect little summer nook for our family of 6. Thank you!!!

This was my family’s first trip to OBX and we could not have been happier with the space. The house is extremely spacious and so close to the beach. We appreciated the welcome bag of wine, coffee, and the cute postcard with a painting of the house. The place was super clean and the kitchen was amazing. We cooked all of our meals there. We were there for the Fourth of July and were able to view the fireworks right outside on the deck. As advertised, this is a pet friendly Airbnb and our two dogs enjoyed their stay as well. We did the sushi making experience and it was really cool, if you enjoy sushi you should definitely try it out!

House was great for two families to comfortably vacation. The two kitchen and living rooms on the same floor were perfect for everyone to spread out and have their own space, while still feeling like we were all together. The house was very clean, lots of extra beach/pool things for the kids, and the master bedroom was perfectly secluded, while still close at the same time. Having the public lot right next to the house too allowed friends and family also in the area to visit for the day. House is very convenient to beach access, grocery stores, and various restaurants. What a fantastic home — it had everything we could possibly need for our family of 6. (My husband and I + our four teens.) From the bikes and beach chairs to the fully-stocked kitchen, we literally had everything we could possibly need! My husband and I love to cook, and we were impressed by all of the cookware, knives, and other kitchen amenities. We were told ahead of time about a missing remote for the main TV, but we just used our extra Roku stick and it was not an issue. I always appreciate when hosts are proactive about issues like this! This is probably the most well-organized and well-stocked home we have rented. Everything was labeled and the amenities were just as described. The beach gear and bikes and games were in nice shape and the furnishings were so nice. I loved the outdoor shower and hammock and screened porch. It is equal walking distance to both the beach or town, so everyone can do their thing. The location is excellent!

This may be one of the best airbnbs we’ve stayed at! The home is inviting, cozy and as beautiful in person as in the pictures. As the listing says, the home was recently renovated and has modern upgrades and a stunning kitchen. It was plenty spacious for our family of 7 adults and 1 toddler. The outdoor area is really nice and while the pool may be on the smaller side, it is a good size for taking a dip and lounging. Just don’t expect to swim laps in it. We loved the hot tub and took advantage of it in the cooler evenings.
You can walk to the beach (less than 10 mins) but it can feel long if you’re hauling a lot of beach gear by hand. Best to have a wagon or drive and drop off at the public access point. If you’re traveling with children, Dowdy Park is nearby and has a playground, basketball and tennis courts, and a huge open field. We went several times and our toddler loved it!
Lastly, the hosts were really great, very accommodating of our needs and extremely responsive!

The host had great recommendations like Ashley’s coffee shop down the block and was very responsive when we arrived. This trip and the Airbnb exceeded our expectations, would definitely recommend!! We loved our stay at Born to Sun! We loved that from the living room you had a view of the ocean. My boys (2 and 4yo) loved the beach and this house was a hop and skip away (ie 4 minute walk to the water’s edge).
Also, as a mom of young kids, I loved the convenience of local stores. The Publix is a 4 minute drive and NEW Target is a 3 minute drive.
Overall, only positive things to say! Next time we make it down to OBX we hope to stay here again!

I can’t recommend this place enough! Easily the best beach stay we’ve ever had. The house was perfect, exactly as pictured. The details were personal and felt like home. Even small things like having pictures of where pans go and light switches labeled added to the magic of this place! We had everything we needed and more. Perfect proximity. Lots to do for the kids. Brittany was an amazing host and so responsive and helpful. Art’s Place for breakfast and Black Pelicans for dinner we’re our fav! We made the best memories playing and flying kites at Jockeys Ridge. Wonderful location and very clean. Owners are investing in their rental with good projects. Neighbors are wonderful and a central location to explore OBX. I have been coming to OBX for decades, but this was the first time coming with family in the winter and over the Christmas holiday. This was also our first time staying in Kitty Hawk at this particular home and we couldn’t have had a better experience. We had 8 adults and two dogs in our party and the space provided was perfect, considering there are two family rooms, a separate game room on the ground level, and a master bedroom on the second floor. I chose this home because of all of the games, hot tub, dog friendliness, and proximity to beach and restaurants –there was plenty to do, even in winter! The best part: ZERO traffic. Brittany was a very helpful, kind, and responsive host, as well. We will definitely think about renting this house in the summer when we come back, again.

We loved staying at Brittany’s place. It has plenty of space with everything we wanted and needed and more! The fenced area for the pets was a huge plus since it was so cold while we were there. (bomb cyclone 2022). I did not want to walk the dogs in that weather. The treats left for the dogs was appreciated as well. We also loved that the home is so close to the beach and the beach could be viewed from the house. We took several walks down there. The home itself is beautiful, clean, and cozy. We did a lot of cooking and baking for our Christmas Day meal, and everything we needed was there. We only needed to pick up the ingredients. We highly recommend Brittany’s home.

The house was stocked with everything I could’ve needed. It was clean and more than I expected. The bikes and things for the beach were fantastic. There was only one issued, the pool needed cleaned. There were a lot of leaves under the pool cover and in the drain basket. But once we cleaned them it was very nice. Our host offered to send someone out but we cleaned the leaves out ourselves. Corn hole was equally fun for all of us. I’ll keep this house in mind for next year.

This was one of the most well stocked properties I’ve ever visited. They really have everything you need so I would recommend checking with the owner before packing so you don’t duplicate like I did! The house was super clean, and the owner was very responsive. The location is great, a short 5 minute walk to either the beach OR main Duck area where all the shops and restaurants are. The pool is the perfect ending to a long day at the beach! Would definitely rent again!

This is the most amazing place we’ve stayed at in Southern Shores/Kitty Hawk/Duck area. It is beautifully decorated and styled and extremely clean. Tons of beach towels/chairs/umbrellas/bikes and a cart you can hitch to the bike! Had all the pots/spices/Tupperware you could need. Beds and couch were comfy, the pool was awesome to have since there were red flags for most of our stay. Close to the beach and restaurants, would stay here again 100%.

Brittany’s place is absolutely incredible. Do NOT hesitate to book! The house is SO spacious – much moreso than even the pics capture. The decor was so lovely and put us in the beach vacay mood instantly! The location is incredible! Only about 150 steps to the sand. A perfectly easy walk for adults with a ton of beach gear and tired, sandy kiddos. As far as communication and responsiveness, Brittany is absolutely top notch! We had an issue with the dryer when we were there and Brittany had the unit replaced and installed in less than 24 hours! The beach itself was quiet and so beautiful. A stay at this house will not disappoint!

Six of us enjoyed this lovely beach house! The distance from the beach was well-compensated by the house bikes and beach cart. We loved coasting down the street to Duck Donuts and town—very convenient. The kitchen has a nice selection of mugs and dishes, and plenty of T-Fal pots & pans, small appliances, and gadgets. Room for all of us to comfortably sit in the living room. We have stayed in seven Duck beach houses over the years and although not the biggest, this is one of the nicest.

Outstanding. It was a beautiful stay for our two families who spent a week. We had 8 total with four adults and four 6 to 9 year olds.
Starting with check in, which was as simple as opening the door, the experience was easy all the way through, the house was immaculate and the effort, and dare I say – love – that these hosts put into creating a relaxing experience was clear. The entire property is comfortable and well appointed – kitchens, large living spaces, bedrooms, bathrooms, all the way to beach gear, pool toys and the game room. We noticed and appreciated details like clear labels for every light switch on the property, coffee Kcups on the ready, and an electric pump for pool floaties.
We did notice some intermittency with the wifi over the course of the week, but we also had probably too many devices to count connected simultaneously. This was a non issue for us.
Location was great for us, easy walk to the beach even with all the gear. Within view of a great restaurant and lots more a few minute drive away. Minutes from grocery, seafood market, pharmacy, pretty much anything you’d need.
All in all, we were close to having to be forcibly removed. Thanks for a wonderful time!

Amazing location!!! It was wonderful to have two bathrooms and the outdoor shower after long days at the beach. The neighborhood is relatively quiet and there’s some cute places to walk to. We loved the kitchen and outdoor deck. You truly can’t beat the proximity to the beach. We were able to walk home for lunch and often walked back in the evening for more fun. I’d suggest bringing your own sheets, extra blankets, and make sure to pick up some gallon water jugs for the fridge;) We can’t wait to return next summer!

The house was cute- just as advertised. Very close to the beach and could walk to the pier and a few restaurants plus shopping was so close by for food. Loved the two separate living areas. Just a few things to be aware of- the master bed room was a good size with storage but the other two were definitely smaller with limited closet or dresser space. Would likely be best for kids or for 2 couples with each having a ‘separate wing’ of the house. Loved using the outdoor shower and sitting on the front porch playing cards and having a cocktail. The eating areas themselves are small but there are 3 places to eat inside so if everyone’s doesn’t want to eat together it works. You can all eat together outside too. It is busy on the main drag but not so much that it felt too noisy. Great place to spend for vacation!

We loved staying at Jack & Nancy’s and hope to return. It’s such a great location, with so much to see and do around, while all I wanted to do was sit on the porch with my sea view and drink my coffee all day. It was pretty warm while we were at the Outer Banks, but so comfortable in the house. The kitchen was well appointed so we were able to eat in several nights, and it provided space for our two families of 4 to easily also have our own spaces when needed. We had such a wonderful stay!!!

Counting Pelicans is hands down our favorite rental in the Outer Banks. The house is lovely with lots of arts and crafts touches. It is also outfitted with all the comforts of home especially in the kitchen. You do need to bring your own linens and towels but that is pretty common for obx rentals. You can see the ocean from the front deck and the beach is just a few minutes walk. Wifi worked great for streaming etc while we were there. There’s even a coffee shop just a minute’s walk down the street. When we come back to the OBX, we will definitely stay here.

My family and I had a wonderful time staying at Counting Pelicans. We would recommend it to anyone. The place is even nicer in person, very clean and lots of room for our family. Being located in Kill Devil Hills it’s close to everything. The hosts were very responsive to messages and wonderful to talk to. The close proximity to the beach was amazing just a very short walk, as it sits three houses back and we could see the beach from the porch. Enjoyed everything the place had to offer. We cooked meals and used the grill some nights, enjoyed the decks and patio in early mornings and evenings with plenty of comfortable seating. The bath house was nice when coming back from the beach to wash off in. Loved the comfy couch and spinning chairs in the living room with such uniquely designed foot rests. I can go on and on. We would all come back and stay here again. Wonderful house!!

If you’re looking for a cute beach cottage just steps away from the ocean, but in the middle of it all, this is your place! Born to Sun couldn’t have been more perfect for our family’s first trip to the Outer Banks. So many kitchen amenities – we had everything we needed to cook many meals, including a picnic grill in the yard that we definitely made use of. Our teens made several trips down to the coffee and sweet shop down the road, they’re both amazing (Trio is also very close and we had a delicious dinner there one night). The welcome book and welcome bag of goodies were both very thoughtful and included a bottle of wine! And of course we took full advantage of having beach access so close. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and watching the ocean during various times of the day. The entire house was very clean upon arrival, beds were super comfortable and we all had plenty of room to spread out. We will definitely stay again if we are in the KDH area. Love, love, love!

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this nice quiet neighborhood, but yet so close to several grocery stores, Duck Donuts and Rundown Cafe. The beach was also close. We appreciated how clean it was and all the little touches of soap/shampoo/sheets/towels/k-cups/enclosures for the dog and a fun game room!! Brittany was always very responsive and had lots of great suggestions. We would recommend this house to anyone staying in Kitty Hawk.

You will fall in love with the hostess and the house. We took one of our sons and his family to Duck and ALL had a great time. The house was even better than we could have asked for. Rooms were spacious, house well stocked/furnished, and the location was great. The outdoor private pool was a big hit for the grandchildren, and the walking distance to the beach was easy for all. Even walking to the shops just down the street was a short little stroll. House was clean and a nice little welcome package was waiting for us with lots of sweets and goodies. Nice wrapping porch with many areas to sit and chat. Big hit was the outdoor shower. House had games for kids, TV’s in all rooms, and the decor was as beachy as you could get. Wonderful furniture to include a very large sectional sofa; all could snuggle and enjoy. Would stay there again for sure. You can’t go wrong at this location or with the hostess.

Good location in Duck with all the comforts of home. We had a blast during our week there. The pool was the highlight for my daughters and the screened in porch with ceiling fan was my favorite. Kitchen is well stocked, the beds were comfy and there are plenty of seating options indoors and outside around the deck. This is a well-kept rental and we would definitely visit again.

This was a great house and great location! Everything seemed brand new! And it appears all our needs were well thought out amd provided for. We were minutes from all of our favorite places and the coffee shop was excellent! But I think we enjoyed John the most!! We signed up for his sushi making class and it was GREAT! As a matter of fact, if we get back there next year, we have all said that would be a must do again!
And being able to see the beach from my bed was a super bonus!

This house was absolutely terrific for our family of four (2 parents, one teenage boy and one teenage girl). Having three bedrooms gave everybody their own space. And it couldn’t have been any closer to the beach without being right on it. We literally had to walk across the street and we were at the beach access. The house is super cute and definitely puts you in the vacation mindset with its decor. And it wasn’t just the bedrooms that gave you room to spread out. There’s two living spaces each with their own TV’s if the kids want to watch something different than the parents. Kitchen had everything we needed for making meals and appliances were very nice. Laundry facilities in the garage were adequate. And it was nice that they provided some basic beach essentials (chairs, an umbrella, a cooler, a beach wagon, etc) that we took advantage. Location was right in the middle of the action. Just a few minutes to the Wright Brothers memorial and a few more to Jockey Ridge State Park. The Food Lion grocery store was just a few blocks away. It was perfect for our family of four and would work great for a family of five, too. We’d definitely go back to this place again.

We loved waking up every morning & walking to Ashley’s Espresso Parlour, then straight to the beach. We spent our evenings eating takeout on the fenced in porch. (Recommend “I got your crabs” in kitty hawk!!) Such a convenient location. Loved the 60’s classic beach cottage feel and all the stylish updates to the kitchen. We had a lovely time & our pup did too. If you’re looking for a classic, low-key OBX trip with a pup and/or little ones this is such a great pick!
A few tips for future guests:
– bring your own linens, towels & extra blankets. Sanitized sheets and towels are provided but they aren’t like home.
– they have a booster seat & high chair 🙌🏼 it looked like there was a pack n play too. I didn’t use it as my daughter is too old but great for those traveling with babies!
– laundry detergent & dryer sheets are provided 🙂
– beach wagon, small cooler, and a couple chairs are provided. We didn’t use them bc we brought our own but I would have used theirs if I knew 🙂
– don’t forget to bring doggy bags!

Brittany’s house was perfect!! The beds were comfortable to sleep in, lots of showers all with great pressure and hot water. Kitchen appliances and carpet were recently updated so was like staying in a new home! I would recommend bringing beach towels and extra blankets if it is chilly. We didn’t see any extras anywhere, but we also didn’t ask for them. The house is so big and we had so much room. Both living areas had comfortable couches to relax on. Lots of outdoor chairs for sitting and relaxing. About a block walk from the beach. We highly recommend Duck Donuts (also within walking distance), for fresh hot yummy donuts. Great location with a 20 minute drive to most attractions. The house was very clean and well stocked. Highly recommend!! Thank you for a fantastic stay. 🙂

This is a very nice place to stay. The place is beautiful and steps to the beach. We didn’t didn’t get to spend much time on the beach because it was super windy, but we were able to find plenty to do and eat some great food for my husband’s birthday weekend. This house was great! Theres a binder on the coffee table with tons of great information about the area. The cool part about the binder is, instead of random places thrown together, its curated carefully from the families personal experiences. Like restaurants they actually like to eat at, places that their kids enjoy, places that cater to off season guests. That little book was awesome and i never had to use google for suggestions. Also the windows wrap around the living room offering up one amazing view of the ocean!

Wonderful location, gorgeous little house with plenty of room for us, our two little kids, and our 90-pound puppy. The beach is steps away and dog-friendly, and close enough to make quick trips with toddler and infant who tire easily. There was everything we needed to eat in when necessary and so many great restaurants to choose from nearby, even in February which is way off-season. The welcome book has excellent reviews of a number of places to eat, so definitely check it out! Also loved that they have most major streaming services downloaded on the TVs–we are TV people and appreciate being able to watch a movie at home after a long day! Hoping to visit again for sure!

This was an awesome place and Brittany was a terrific host. It was even better here than in the description. There are 2 living rooms and 2 fridges on the main level. The king bedroom and bathroom are upstairs and very private from the rest of the living area with an amazing beach view. The hot tub was a huge plus for us! Awesome and wonderful location, literally a few steps across from the beach. Beautifully appointed home, spotlessly clean with everything needed for a stay at the beach. Cannot say enough good things about it. Out of season, the beach is quietly beautiful and our dog certainly approved of walks across the sand – you can go for miles and just enjoy the pelicans and sandpipers. All that said, shopping and restaurants are just a short drive away, or for coffee lovers, just walking to the end of the street. We’ll be back!

This is a sweet little place with just about everything you could want in a beach house. It’s close to the beach, has a game room, hot tub and small pool. We stayed Christmas week and used the hot tub, and with the great weather, it was nice to be within such a short, easy stroll to the beach and to have front and back decks to enjoy depending on the breeze.
It was nice to have plenty of dishes, glasses and cutlery for our group and we certainly got good use out of having 2 dishwashers and 2 refrigerators. We set up a coffee and drinks stations in one of the kitchen/den areas and that worked well for us. There were enough indoor and outdoor spaces for our group to both congregate and spread out. The house is very clean and nicely decorated. All the bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash, no need to bring any of that. One tip is to thoroughly look through cabinets and closets to assess what’s provided. We sorely missed having a hamper to use for the laundry but found one in a bedroom closet the morning we were checking out!
The Kitty Hawk area is a bit busy but the home is on a quiet street with very little traffic. We very much enjoyed our stay in this comfortable and convenient home.

we spent Thanksgiving holiday at Brittany’s place and it was absolutely fantastic! The house was perfect for a family of four and we appreciated so much the amenities for our dog! The hosts left us a very thoughtful welcome gift that even included items for our holiday meal! The location is perfect! Very short walk to beach..less than a minute and you can see the ocean from the deck. I spotted a whale while I was drinking coffee!! Who says the Outer Banks cannot be fun in early November! Ok, the weather was brisk most days but the house was fantastic, great location to the area’s points of interest, easy walk to the beach and more room than the 3 of us (+ dog) could possibly use. Check in/out was super easy and our host was very responsive with communication.
The updated master bedroom commands a fabulous view of the ocean and has a wonderful ensuite bath. The main floor has 3 rooms, one with its own bathroom too, so again, more space than we needed. The house is practical and functional, not fancy, and is a great ‘beach’ home for any vacation. We got a lot of use out of the hot tub and the games room and when we felt like watching tv, there was pretty much 1 in every room…
Even with the fall temps, we had a ton to do, with Jockey Ridge and the Wright Brothers a few miles down the road, the Aquarium and Lost Colony a short drive to Roanoke Island, and walking the boardwalk in Duck to name a few. There are a ton of local eating options minutes away too and we ate our fill of steamed crabs and shrimp!
We hope to be back late next summer, to enjoy some warmer weather and more OBX charm.

The Little Pearl is a colorful, cozy home full of vintage charm right across the street from the beach. The house is small compared to the multi-level newer homes, but it’s surprisingly roomy inside with lots of extra living space for people to spread out both inside and out. Our favorite things were all of the board games, the TVs in every room (my kids can never agree on what to watch), the outdoor shower, all the beach supplies, and the front patio. It’s also a great house for people with mobility issues because it’s all one level. My mom fractured her tibia while we were there, and we were able to still have our beach vacation thanks to the easy accessibility of the house.

This beach house was awesome for a few couples or family. The location is perfect for getting to the beach and the one story building makes everything easy on everyone. The table outside is great to relax at and people watch as well as the large driveway to play in or sit around and chat. The outdoor shower is super cool for rinsing off after a day at the beach. The inside is super cute with lots of interesting decor. Made me happy to look at all the colors and unique items. This is not a “neutral” place!! It’s fun. I highly recommend this spot. My friends and I had an amazing week at this gorgeous ocean side home. The views of the waves from the decks were remarkable! We appreciated the double fridge and dish washer as well as the ample amount of storage space. The home is very dog friendly with gated decks so you don’t have to worry about the pups going anywhere. Right down the street from the beach and great beach supplies as well. We would certainly recommend this house for any family or friend group!

Brittany’s attention to detail is impeccable – we had everything we needed and felt right at home. I’ve been coming to OBX for over 25 years and you really can’t beat the location of this house! Directly across from the beach access and the house even has a great supply of beach chairs, toys, etc. The renovated kitchen was perfect and stocked with so many utensils, including a fridge with filtered water! We really enjoyed the front patio and table to spend drinking our morning coffee.
Unfortunately, the beds were very uncomfortable and back toilet was practically not usable due to plumbing issues. Beads hanging in the hallway were quite a pain having to pass through over and over, often getting stuck around us and in our hair.
Overall, our stay was pleasant, we just would’ve liked a more comfortable place to sleep for the amount of money spent. This rental was on the lower end of comparable home nightly rates, but it’s unfortunate to see how costly the Outer Banks has gotten.

The Honu Hut is the perfect place to stay for a trip to OBX. It is in the perfect location to spend time at both the sound and the beach. The hosts offer use of beach cruiser bikes, which gave us a fun activity every morning to get coffee and explore the area. We loved staying here and can’t wait to come back!

This was the cutest spot even the neighbors were friendly! it’s a short walk to the beach, sunsets, sunrise and you can even borrow their bikes! Everything was super clean and convenient! You really don’t even need a car unless you plan to explore the whole area or if you want to drive to specific food places or to Walmart, it’s about a 15 min drive. I enjoyed my stay, appreciated the outdoor shower after the beach, and definitely plan to come back!

The Honu Hut is the absolute perfect spot for a couple’s getaway trip. Clean, quaint, relaxing, and in a great location. You are just a bike ride away from the beach, the bay, the bike path, local cafe shops, restaurants, bars – you will rarely need your car! Chelsey & Darren were the greatest hosts. Awesome, kind and welcoming people (Tyson too). Darren was so kind and helped us when we had car troubles one day and Chelsey offered us so many awesome suggestions on places to go/things to do we never once felt unsure of what to do. Born to sun, is a clean, Beautiful, pet friendly cozy cottage, just steps away from the beach. Has a beautiful deck , with table and chairs to sit out on. You have a partial view of the ocean. In the morning there is Ashley‘s espresso parlor just down the same street if you don’t wanna make your own coffee. The beds are comfortable.The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. A Keurig on the counter ready to go. Has a cuisinart coffee maker in the lower cupboard. Salt,pepper, spices. Coffee mugs, wine glasses.Rival blender and much much more. The only thing I can Think of that you may want to bring, are extension cords. We use them for charging our phones outside on the deck and inside. Brittany, the host was so helpful, and answered every question we had promptly. I would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing and healing vacation, it’s a true gem.

The location is wonderful. It is a short distance from the beach, restaurants, markets, and department stores. There is a great trail walk behind the house and a state park close by. The house is perfect for large family gatherings with a great game room located in the loft. The kitchen had an excellent amount of upscale supplies to make cooking meals easy. Everything was very clean and the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We especially loved the lamps with the USB ports in the bedrooms. We would love to come back and stay in the same place.

This house is well decorated and comfortable. The location is amazing, just a quick walk across the street to the beach. You’re close to everything and the area is quiet and feels calm even during peak months. It’s a great space to share with another couple or grandparents as there are two separate living spaces.
The only reason I didn’t give this house five stars is because we had an issue with water coming in under an exterior door during our stay. When we contacted the host, she was responsive, but said it happens when the weather/wind is just right. From a note in the guestbook from past stays, this was known at least two years ago. We had belongings get wet and had to spend time cleaning everything up, as the water had spread almost all the way across the room. It also caused us worry about it happening again, as we were there during a rainy week. Luckily it didn’t. The host sent over additional towels to replace what we had used to clean up and to help block the door in case it happened again, but it seems like an issue that merits addressing.

Just returned from a wonderful stay. The house has everything you may wish for, even more than we expected from the description. We were happily surprised to find a brand new gas grill, 8 bikes in great shape, and a wonderfully equipped kitchen. The swimming pool was a blessing, as it was often too hot to be on the beach. The house was spotless clean and Brittany was available for questions if needed. The location was great also, a short walk to the beach (made even easier by the provided beach cart) and walking distance from shops, the boardwalk and ice cream stores, among others.

Duckin Out was such a wonderful vacation experience!!!!! The house was PERFECT!!!!! We can’t wait to rent again. Everything was so easy! The property was clean and completely stocked!!! It literally had every thing we would need- down to the kitchen spices!!! The pool was a great treat after the beach (and the locked gate was perfect to keep our 3 year old safe and give us piece of mind during our stay). Bikes, sand toys, beach supplies, pots, pans, ice maker, WiFi, tv’s in each room, beautiful screened in porch, rocking chairs on the deck to enjoy morning coffee on the quiet peaceful street-are just some of the awesome amenities. Counting Pelicans was hands-down one the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed at. The location is perfect (the 4th house back from the beach). You can walk to and from the beach as easy as possible. The street is a quiet residential one. Lots of cute dogs tho 🙂 The kitchen is really well stocked. We cooked most of our meals easily. There were only 4 of us, and everyone was thrilled to have their own room. But we could have easily fit double the people. Having two porches is so fun– you can follow the sun or the shade. The beds and the furniture were all comfortable and unique. We loved the beachy decorations! It truly felt like being a guest in someone’s very well-cared-for home. So many other reviewers have already said this, but I can’t wait to come back next year (I hope)!

My husband and I had such a great time at the Honu Hut! Chelsey & Darren have a great place in Kill Devil Hills and we love all the details they have incorporated to make it feel cozy! Spent the week in this gem with my family of 5 and another family of 3, plus our 2 dogs. The house was the perfect size to comfortably fit all 8 of us(and the dogs!). The neighborhood was surprisingly quiet considering it’s central location. The house was stocked with numerous kitchen, bath and beach supplies that fit our needs. It was a very short walk to the public beach access (about 500 ft, if that!). There was plenty of room on the beach for us all to spread out. There are multiple highly rated restaurants in close proximity (#1 Bad Bean!). Brittany responded quickly to all of my questions. I’ve been coming every year to OBX since 2005, and would definitely put this house in my top 3 rentals!!!

Loved the central location of this house which is close to bridge onto OBX and a good base while one explores north to Carova and south to Hatteras. House was a block from a public access beach with lifeguards and loved that dogs were allowed there! House does sit next to a public parking lot (for beach) but gets empty at night and you cant see the lot from the pool, felt private. Our dogs loved hanging on the deck and soaking the ocean breeze.

This is our second stay at Counting Pelicans and as expected, it was great! The location is perfect – about a half block to the beach on a quiet street. The owners have updated the kitchen and added some other improvements since our last stay about 3 years ago. The house is well cared for, clean, and had everything we needed. We love the artistic touches in and outside of the house. There were a total of 4 adults and 5 children staying there and we had plenty of room. The owners responded promptly to all messages. Chelsea and Darren were amazing hosts! We had a great stay in the Honu Hut. The house was adorable with the most amazing detailed touches. Darren and Chelsea put hard work into their home and it shows. The location is great, the home was super clean, and everything was perfect. We took the bikes down to watch the sunset, which was so beautiful. We loved getting to meet their dog Tyson, and enjoyed so much getting to chat with them in the evening. Absolutely loved our time at Brittany’s place in Kill Devil Hills! It’s truly steps to the beach with an ocean view on the front porch where we sat and drank our morning coffee. It’s also walking distance from tens of shops, cafes, restaurants, and mini golf.

This is the cutest little OBX stay! It’s the perfect location between the beach and the sound. Honu Hut was the perfect place to stay for our extended weekend in obx. We had so much fun riding the beach cruisers around and the location was awesome, just a few minutes from the beach and the sound (on a bike or on foot). The hosts were very friendly and attentive. We traveled to Duck for the first time with four adults and two toddlers. “Duckin’ Out” was perfect for us! We loved the bikes and used them daily to go down to town for dinner/drinks or up to the beach to check the waves from Hurricanes Paulette and Sandy. We felt like the house was actually pretty well childproofed and only required minor adjustments on night 1. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked, the neighborhood was quiet and friendly. I would highly recommend!

This was a perfect Airbnb for our 5 day stay in the Outer Banks. The hut is truly a must visit place when in NC. I was skeptical about staying in a private room/area that the hosts were also living at but i’m glad i gave it a try. The room is sparkling clean and the bathroom is amazing. They have a binder full of recommendations and also leave a bunch of stuff for their guests to use at the beach out. The location is perfect, not too slow and not too busy. You are minutes away from the beach for a to die for sunrise and minutes away from the sound for the sunset. I was so sad to leave, but will be returning to the hut when I can.

An easy walk down a residential street to the beach. House comes with multiple beach chairs and bikes to use. Poteskeet Drive is located near central part of Duck commerce strip so easy walk or quick drive to get to a friendly pharmacy , Tullios Bakery for treats and a newspaper, or Duck Donuts. The front yard has some fun decorations, peace poles, made by a neighbor. The downstairs living area is not connected to the upstairs area indoors. Chelsey & Darren’s place was everything we wanted in an OBX home. The location is perfectly situated between the beach and the bayside; both sides were only a short walk/bike ride away. The room was very clean, air-conditioned, and spacious enough for a couple. The backyard was expansive and well-kept plus it had an outdoor grill, picnic table, and lounge chairs. The outdoor shower was the perfect way to end a long day at the beach. Chelsey was very friendly, accommodating and quick to respond to all our questions. We would 100 percent want to stay here again in the near future.

This place is a real find! Clean, well appointed, beautifully decorated, and walking distance to a gorgeous beach! We brought our paddle boards and had a secure garage to lock them in, a hose to wash them off and could easily walk them to the ocean. I paddled with a pod of dolphins! Also, in the garage are quality beach chairs, umbrella and a cart to tow them to the beach. The house is spotless, beautifully decorated with so much eye candy that we were often finding new and interesting touches. The beds were comfortable, between firm and soft. The showers had good pressure and we loved the outdoor shower with hot water. The kitchen was well appointed and had pretty much everything we needed, with nice place ware, glass drink-ware, and quality pots and pans. The fridge had an ice maker and filtered water (a real plus). The AC worked well and having two living rooms and two indoor dining tables and a huge outdoor table meant lots of space to spread out.
The only issue we ran into was spotty internet. I don’t know if this is throughout the region or just this house, but we would be streaming a movie or video and it would often stop. It would eventually begin again after a few minutes, but sometimes not. We tried using our phones as a hotspot but the same thing happened. Honestly, everything else was so wonderful that we weren’t too put out by it. A truly great place!

I hesitate to tell the truth about this house because I want it to remain available for MY family. It’s just lovely–perfectly located withing EASY walking distance to both the beach (wide, newly paved, low-volume road…2/10 mile to beach access) and to all of the cute shops in Duck (2/10 mile in other direction). I got in my car ONE time, to make a Walmart run. House is well-appointed and cute as a button, with 2 bedrooms and a full bath on each side of a large, comfy living space. Perfect for 2 families with kids, or any combination of 8-9 people. Great outdoor shower area, screen-in porch, expansive deck, etc. My only suggestion for the owner would be to have a disposal installed in the kitchen sink. Otherwise, perfection! We will definitely rent here again and GREATLY appreciate the half-week option. Arriving on a Wednesday made all the difference in terms of traffic, and having to take less days off of work. Thanks for a great week!

A cozy studio that had everything you would need to enjoy a beach vacation. The amenities were excellent, especially enjoyed the beach cruisers to travel around town. The location is a skip hop and a jump to the beach and great restaurants. The host’s left great recommendations that we took full advantage of, none of the suggestions let us down. One day when it was suppose to rain, the host reached out to us to give us suggestions for indoor activities, they were awesome. There is a great backyard with nice sized grill in the event that you want to bbq fresh seafood (we loved this feature). The house was spotless and very stylish! The key less lock is a necessity for any beach house because we did not have to worry about losing the key in the sand, or worse the ocean. The screened in porch was so nice after coming home for the beach and using the outdoor shower, we could dry off without tracking sand and water inside. The beach is super close and the supplies in the beach box really saved the day. We loved being within walking distance of several tasty restaurants and dessert spots! The host also has instructions and labels for everything so you can really feel at home instead of fumbling with remotes and switches. We had an amazing trip!

The Honu Hut was perfect for our first vacation to The Outerbanks! The bikes and beach equipment provided helped us relax on the beach without having to spend extra on chairs and umbrellas. The resource book in the room was also a huge help as we explored KDH and all the local seafood options. Although we didn’t have the opportunity to personally meet Chelsey and Darren, they were available when we needed and answered all the questions we had. The Honu Hut is a wonderful place and we would highly recommend it to anyone! We will definitely be back!

They are clearly hands on with the place. every tought represents their personality and love for what they are doing (love the turtles) … that means a lot to us. The place was super clean and had everythign you need. They offered their backyard space as well and we enjoyed cooking a couple of nice fresh seafood meals on the grill with the beautifull skies above us. Chelsey and Darren’s place far exceeded our expectations! The space was super clean, quiet and comfortable and had extra amenities such as a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and extra personal hygiene items. The large backyard was a great placeto relax and take in the beauty of great spring nights. There were also beach cruisers available for use that made it easy to get around to local coffee shops and restaurants and allowed us to take in the views along bay drive! Such a wonderful stay; can’t wait to come back!!

We loved staying with Chelsey and Darren! They are friendly, accommodating, and their place is just wonderful! It’s just a short walk or bike ride (they have bikes for guests to use!!!) to the beach and there is a great coffee place on the corner close to their house! They had a list of fun things to do around town waiting for us and a binder full of other helpful suggestions as well! They thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and strived to make sure we had a great time. It was such a pleasure meeting them and we will definitely stay again! The Honu Hut is a perfect home away from home. Chelsey & Darren were incredibly helpful in providing directions and advice driving into OBX and local options around the neighborhood. Checking in is incredibly easy (especially for someone who drove in at 10:30pm!). The space is private and comfortable, and I greatly appreciated the little touches – especially the coffee for my early mornings. Would definitely recommend their place to anyone traveling to the Outer Banks. While I didn’t get a chance to meet them this time around, I hope to be back in future!

This private room is exactly as it is pictured. Private entrance with personal outdoor space available. This inviting place has a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toiletries, towels – beach and bathing, air conditioned and comfortable queen sized bed. Also – the body boards, surf boards, fishing pole, beach chairs, coolers, touring bikes – all for your use! It really is awesome. The location is perfect to quickly get to the coastal beaches, the inlet waterways, shopping, eating of all sorts, and local hot spots. But I don’t want to forget that the hosts are extremely sweet. They even offered us shrimp from the grill when we arrived. Thank YOU! We will be back on our next adventure out to the Outer Banks!

Chelsey & Darren’s place was the perfect spot for my husband and I to spend the final few days of our vacation at obx. Their place was thoughtfully decorated and extremely clean. It included many amenities including bikes and beach gear. They were so friendly to us, and gave us so many great recommendations for dinner and coffee. My boyfriend and I stayed at Chelsey & Darren’s place for a few days and had a fantastic experience! The place was extremely clean. They were really responsive and always got back to us immediately. They even let us check in a little early since we got in so early and we’re super accommodating. They also gave us some great recommendations for a cute coffee shop and a great place for dinner. The apartment is very cute and feels private from the main house. We met them in person and they were super friendly but also gave us privacy. The back yard is great, we even stayed in one night and grilled for dinner. The place is a quick less than 5 minute bike right to a nice stretch of the beach and they provide bikes, chairs, towels, etc. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone. Had a wonderful experience!

The best part about this beach house is the location to the beach! It was less than 1 block to the beach and you can easily see the ocean from the front portch. This was a must have feature with 4 little kids. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It comfortably fit 4 adults and 4 kids. We loved the artistic character in decor both in and out of the home. We took advantage of the charcoal grill and grilling supplies provided. The surrounding streets were very quiet and had very little traffic. The bottom floor of the home is separate from the top (main) floor. We ended up not using this space but realized that it would be nice for grandparents or older kids to have as their own separate space. We will keep this in mind for future stays. We would definitely stay at Jack and Nancy’s place again.

Chelsey and Darren are amazing! They had put everything you could’ve imagined and the room was so cute! It’s better than any hotel or resort you could’ve booked to stay in. The Honu Hut was a great space to kick your feet up after a day of exploring OBX! While a small space, the design touches that Chelsey & Darren put in are really nice. The location is perfectly between the ocean and the sound/bay, in a very quiet neighborhood and not far from anywhere you may want to be in the Outer Banks. Place was just like the pictures and more! Beautiful, cozy, and quiet. Everything we could possibly need was ready for us, including a book of recommendations from where to view the beautiful sunset, to dinner recommendations. We will be returning during the summer to enjoy the beach toys and especially the very cool outdoor shower! Great location right in Kill Devil Hills, lots of restaurants and shops right around, and a short drive to Nags Head, or North to Duck & Corolla. The room is perfect for a vacation stay, and we loved the outdoor showers and spacious back yard! Chelsey & Darren (& the awesome dog Tyson!) were amazing and couldn’t have been better hosts! We got engaged during our stay, and they left us sweet notes and a bottle of champagne! We’ll be back to Honu Hut soon, and you should have no hesitations with booking there either, you’re in for a great stay!!

This is a wonderful beach home to take a family vacation. The beach is a short walk and it is not crowded at all and we went various times from sunrise to sunset. Extra amenities like Wi-Fi, cable, a charging station, plenty of benches and chairs outdoors, 3 full bathrooms, outside private shower, etc. make this a great place to vacation at the ocean. Wow, from the communication prior to us arriving and throughout our stay to walking in the cozy, clean, and comfortable Honu Hut, this visit was AWESOME. My wife and I came to OBX for a brief weekend “reset” trip after just recently getting married not even a year ago just yet. Darren and Chelsea have literally thought of EVERYTHING as far as accommodations and recommendations in the area. Two of the most welcoming people including Ty Ty, their friendly boxer. The cruisers were a nice touch to explore the local area getting to the sound, the beach, and local shops nearby. Restaurant recommendations that we took were all ON POINT. Definitely recommend if you want a cozy getaway will a chill vibe and feel.

My mom and I had less than 24 hours to spend in the outer banks (it was just a pit stop on our road trip from FL to NY) and we were so happy to stay at the Honu Hut! It was impressively clean, just as the pictures looked, and it was decorated to make us feel like we had our own mini beach house. Every detail was thought of in this room, from a nice, personal welcome better on our bed, the wifi network and password framed on the night stand, extra beach towels and sun screen incase we forgot them, a mini fridge, microwave, even a keurig! There was a small binder with personal recommendations of their favorite restaurants and cafes that are both in walking, biking, or short driving distance, with a few fun brochures thrown in. And I can’t forget to mention the incredibly SOFT and cozy , cloud-like bedding! Oh my goodness. And the fact that we could relax and watch NETFLIX at the end of the night was just the icing on the cake. The next day after spending a few hours at the beach, Chelsey allowed us to use their equally adorable and perfectly thought out outdoor shower area to rinse off before we got in the car for the rest of our road trip even though we already technically checked out. This was by far the best choice we could have made as far as choosing where to stay in the outer banks! I hope to return to the Honu Hut one day!

The Honu Hut exceeded all of our expectations! Chelsey and Darren obviously put so much thought into each and every detail of this venue, from the beach gear available for use (beach cruisers, mats, beach chairs, etc.) to the cozy room amenities (amazingly soft bed and pillows, Riki/Netflix, sunscreen and other nice toiletries). This was by far the nicest and cleanest Airbnb my husband and I have stayed in and we have spent time in Airbnbs around the world! The Honu Hut was centrally located and we could bike or walk to the beach nearby. Just as described, this is a very comfortable, spotless, and cool space. My two days and nights were marred a little by ferocious outdoor heat indexes of 100+ and a strong south wind that made the beach a little tough, but early mornings and late afternoons were great! Pay particular attention to Darren and Chelsey’s recommendations in their resource guide. What a nice couple and warm welcome. Plus the a/c and bed are excellent and the showers, indoor and out, great after a day at the beach. Highly recommended. Enjoy!

We loved the location of the Honu Hut. It was very central to the beach, the sound, biking trails, restaurants, and shopping. The room felt luxe and airy-perfect for a beach get away! Chelsey and Darren were beyond hospitable and friendly. We were able to use the boogie boards, beach chairs, and bikes that they provided for us and they all worked great! It was nice to be able to use their grill as well, and Tyson (their boxer) was an absolute joy to have around! 10/10 would stay at the Honu Hut again!

We really enjoyed staying at this cottage. The home was much closer to the beach than expected. It was supplied with anything and everything you could need while on vacation. The pictures did not do the house justice. It was absolutely incredible to arrive and be blown away by how beautiful the home is inside and out! Honu Hut was a perfect getaway. The room had everything I needed and was very cute and clean. Everything was new. Private entrance and parking meant I came and went as needed. So much to do in the area! Learn your Outer Banks mile posts then look for Captain Andy’s bar and restaurant at MP 11.5 on the ocean side. Also try the wild horse tour, see sunset on Jockey Ridge or at Whalehead in Corolla.

Both Chelsey and Darren were quite lovely and made our stay extremely comfortable. If ever back in town, we would stay there again in a heart beat! Wish we could have stayed longer!

The house was fantastic, much more than we expected. Jack and Nancy answered all of our questions and provided detailed information before we arrived. The house was very comfortable and roomy. The beach is within a short walking distance and was never crowded. The outdoor bath was great too and enclosed so you can rinse sand off entire body. They seemed to have thought of everything including a cool tower charger for the many gadgets. We strongly recommend this home for any family looking for a relaxing week at the beach. No complaints whatsoever and we did get to meet Jack on day we left, otherwise we were left alone, another positive for us. It is not easy to find a vacation spot equally attractive to toddlers, teenagers, young adults and a senior but this home did just that for us. Thanks Jack. Thanks Nancy. Did I mention that the house looks much better in person than in the pictures. One day some folks stopped by just to look at the outside and compliment the outer appeal of the house. The house also has lovely and thoughtful interior decorations as well.

Jack and Nancy were incredibly accommodating when we arrived! They called to let us know when we could check in since we had arrived quite early in the morning.
The house was much much closer to the beach than I realized when I booked it (only a few houses away from the public beach access). Even better, the public beach access is one of the ones without a parking lot, meaning that the beach wasn’t overcrowded.
The house itself was cute and charming. The outside shower is large and even has a dressing area. Since the showers inside were quite small, most of our group opted for showering outside instead.
Unfortunately for us, we came on a very hot week (heat index above 100 every day) and the upstairs AC wasn’t able to keep up during the day. At night, it was fine and everyone slept comfortably. But we avoided being upstairs during the day like the plague.

My husband and I stayed at this cottage with 2 other couples and we all absolutely loved it! The cottage is very nice and decorated nicely. We enjoyed looking at all the little details in the décor inside and out! This house was closer to the beach than expected and we could see the ocean from the front porch. The neighborhood was nice and we enjoyed seeing people walk and ride their bikes down the street. One of my favorite features was the large outdoor shower! By the end of the week all three couples had moved their shower stuff out there and we barely even used the indoor showers! It was not cramped and there are plenty of hooks for everyone to leave their towels. The house had everything we needed. Everyone in our group agreed that we would definitely stay here again!

The place was cute charming and comfortable! Jack and Nancy were delightful hosts that went above and beyond to check on us during our stay to make sure all was well and greeted us when we were leaving. We had 6 total guests but could have easily fit more comfortably. There were many “extras” included in the house making it truly like home … We were a short walk (3 houses) from beach and was so convenient. Would highly recommend this place and will most likely stay here again on our next trip to the Outerbanks!!!
